And no matter how much you're trying to explain yourself, you'd always sound like that same kid they've criticized before.
It's so frustrating because you'd return to be that angry child and prove their point over and over again

I don't think your family will ever truly know you and it has nothing to do with being good or bad but it's just that the way they view you will always be distorted by the way you've been through the years. They will never truly let go or believe that you are really a different person now from how you've been years ago. They will always make assumptions based on things you've done but don't necessarily hold any meaningful significance to your current self so there is this kind of conflict between who you are and who you've been.
It's not necessarily a bad thing but it just shows how although your family knows the most about you that doesn't mean they know you the most
