Four prominent Iranian wrestlers are currently facing severe state repression, detention, torture, and serious threats to their lives in Iran: • Alireza Nejati – U23 World Champion, World Bronze Medalist, Greco-Roman 60 kg • Mehdi Hashemi – National Champion, 125 kg • Keyvan Rezaei – Asian Champion, 92 kg • Saleh Mohammadi – Bronze Medalist, 2024 Russia Saytiev Cup (at risk of execution) These athletes are being targeted solely for their voices, visibility, and peaceful presence. Their physical and psychological safety is in immediate danger. We call on UWW to: ▪️ Publicly demand their immediate release and protection ▪️ Hold the Iranian Wrestling Federation accountable for its silence ▪️ Impose international consequences until these athletes are safe ❗ Silence in the face of such human rights violations is unacceptable. The world is watching.
