I genuinely think typing should be mandatory for people who work with computers and manage a lot of people or volume every day. The other day I was in an ultrasound room, and seeing the operator hunting and pecking keys was honestly disappointing. I’ve seen at least three places where doctors operate ultrasounds, and they all had to write a report. The report is more or less boilerplate, they just need to adjust a few things like the name and the specific finding. I’m sure you’ve experienced this in other places too like banks, water utility offices, and other government services. As more and more services move online and mobile banking , we’re interacting less with these offices. And tools like AI could soon help / replace some of this areas. But for the people who remain, they should be taught to type. In some countries, public servants have to pass a typing speed test just to qualify for these roles. Why not us? I know there are places where typing is considered a skill & demanded, but I think we can do better. It takes like a month or two to learn how to type 60 WPM. It’s a small skill, and it feels like it should be part of some policy.

Around him, his students are in tears, some turning away, unable to watch. The old man seated at the end of the bed is Plato, his most famous student. In reality, Plato wasn’t there that day. But the artist places him in the scene anyway because without Plato, we would know almost nothing about Socrates. He himself wrote nothing, or very little, that has survived. Our understanding of his philosophy, his trial, and his death comes almost entirely through the writings of his students, “Be quiet and have courage, and control yourselves.” When his friends break down crying as he prepares to drink the poison.

He already understood calculus and the chain rule At its core, a computer just does math: take input process it produce output then adjust (tune) based on the outcome (oversimplified but) I’d actually bet he’d relate to it even more naturally than most of us do today.

I noticed that when you're in a position to defend science or you're in the more "science" section of the argument, you often find yourself facing individuals or groups who are seeking to understand something, something for which there already exist countless accessible ways to gain that knowledge. Despite the abundance of resources, explanations, and methods available, they haven't pursued them or perhaps they have, but still arrive here, with you, in search of clarity. That moment, that positioning, says something about the role you play. Not just as a source of information, but as a guide through a landscape people could have walked alone but chose not to. There are insights that are difficult to land on, truths that aren't just a Google search away, and topics complex that they remain hidden to most. But for the majority of knowledge, with genuine intention, a methodical approach, and a real desire to understand, it is out there, available, waiting to be grasped. The problem often isn't the absence of information, but the lack of deliberate pursuit. And recognizing that, the position you find yourself in having to provide what should already be available gives you perspective on where you stand. It becomes a doorway to compassion, empathy, and a genuine desire to find better ways to offer that understanding.

Don't confuse true with 'real'. Keep your values but ditch 'real'. The advice that you should 'be you', the 'real you', is tolerance of laziness and complacency in disguise. No one cares about your quirks; unless they're useful - or at least not harmful. They'd rather you be fake and be useful than real and useless. Tell me, this 'real you', when did it set? When did you accept the characters of you to be so defining as to be identified by them? And if you did set a version in the past, what's stopping you from setting a better one? You're better off evolving in the name of betterment, than stagnating in the name of 'realness'. And isn't 'fake' but a feeling that you're not used to? The more you spend time in what's worthy, however odd at first, the more it will feel 'real' in the long term.
