Hey teachers, I’m sharing a collection of tips, tricks, and techniques for the upcoming SPM English Speaking Test, covering both Part 2 (Individual Long Turn) and Part 3 (Pair Discussion). These materials focus on helping students develop their ideas, use more powerful vocabulary, vary their expressions of agreement, connect their ideas naturally, self-correct when necessary, and build on their partner’s responses. Hopefully, these strategies will help our students speak more confidently, deliver better-developed answers, and work towards achieving Band 5 and Band 6. Feel free to use or adapt these materials to suit your students’ needs. Feel free to share these materials with your SPM candidates at your respective schools. Hey teachers, I’m sharing a sample script for SPM Speaking Part 3: Pair Discussion, specifically designed for our beginner-level students (A2 learners). This simple scaffold aims to help them understand how to initiate, maintain, develop and close a discussion. It could also be particularly helpful for our more reticent students, giving them the confidence and basic language support they need to participate rather than remain silent. Let’s continue doing our best to support our students, teachers. Every little effort counts, and hopefully, with the right guidance and consistent practice, we can help them make progress, one step at a time. Let’s do our best for our students! 💪🏻
