I get that with the historical context ultimately both of these words are okay to use but through all the passing years after the official naming of iran the word persian has obviously been recontextualized to refer to a certain group of Iranians who pride themselves heavily on an ethnicity that might not even be their actual one

I usually say Persian because Iran means the land Aryans
Peris was changed to Iran because Reza Shah had a thing for Hitler.
