Repost from NBooks

That thing you were afraid of the most? It will happen. And for a while you will think that your life is over and there is no way you could undo the damage you inflicted. You'll become resentful towards the world, you'll take refuge behind the unfairness of it all. But then, if you're smart, you'll start looking for ways to deal with it. You'll eventually figure out the new system and work with it, first you'll struggle a bit, then you'll adopt to it, then you'll get used to it, finally you'll start enjoying it and then you'll start thinking that maybe it wasn't too bad that this thing happened, and then you're like oh boy thank God it did.
What is life if not constantly being equally cringed at and proud of your previous versions.
But of course only when it comes to strangers. On a personal level no expectation means no achievement.
Is this a sign for us to pick it as our tomorrow's coffee read?
Repost from Literature
J. D. Salinger has a short story, and this wonderful story is A Perfect Day for Bananafish.
I finished reading it last night, and, if you don't mind, I'd rather have this little conversation with people who've already read it:
Repost from geunyang.
Pop music, romantic cinema, fiction writing, poetry and works that engage with the inner workings of humans and cultures are needed precisely because of this. If all we have is works with overt political and ideological messages, we risk losing the bigger more mundane and humane picture. I really believe that the lack of imagination regarding the future of this country is affected by the lack of popular media and art that works as a sort of glue between people.
