At the same time, forest fires in Kalimantan continue to threaten nature, wildlife, and the lives of local communities. Behind every disaster, there are people, families, and animals struggling to survive. While some of us can still live our lives normally, others are fighting through situations they never asked for. Let’s not ignore what is happening. Even a small act of kindness, spreading awareness, sharing reliable information, or simply praying for those affected can mean something. May everyone in NTT and Kalimantan be given strength, safety, and hope. Indonesia may not be okay right now, but we can still choose to care. ㅤ        ㅤ        ㅤ        IN SOLIDARITY WITH KALIMANTAN & NTT On 15 August 2026, a magnitude 7.7 earthquake struck off the coast of Flores, East Nusa Tenggara. The earthquake triggered a tsunami warning, caused widespread damage, and displaced thousands of people. As rescue and relief efforts continue, the death toll has continued to rise, with dozens of lives lost and hundreds injured. Meanwhile, Kalimantan is facing another devastating crisis. Forest and land fires have intensified across the island, with thousands of hotspots recorded throughout Kalimantan in August. The fires threaten forests, wildlife, livelihoods, public health, and the communities living in and around affected areas. Thick haze has already disrupted daily life and reduced air quality in several regions. ‼️ NTT is grieving. ‼️ Kalimantan is burning And we refuse to look away. We call upon the President of the Republic of Indonesia and the entire cabinet to take immediate, concrete, and accountable action. We demand swift emergency response, adequate protection and assistance for affected communities, transparent distribution of relief, stronger disaster mitigation, and decisive measures to prevent further environmental destruction.
