we don't read and write poetry because it'scute, we read and write poetry because we are members of the human race and the human race is filled with passion , and medicine, law, business, engineering, these are noble pursuits and necessary to sustain life but poetry, beauty, romance, love, these are what we stay alive for.
أُطابق عَقارب ساعتي
لأراك تُطابقني بِروحي
ما لي أراك بعيدُ؟
إلا ليتَ ساعتُنا لا تميلُ .
-فاطِمة .
رَبَّاهُ لاشَيء مِن شَكوايَ يُسعفُني
وَلَا القُلوبُ التي حولي تُواسِيني
إني بِوُجودِكَ يَا مَولَاي مُلتَجئ
مَالِي سِواك اذا ناديتَ يَكفيني
my head is magnificently empty, because my heart is dangerously full
ذكرتُك و الشَمسُ قُربَ الطلوعِ
فأغدقَ جفني سَكيبَ الدموع
فَقلتُ لِعيني كُفّي البُكاء ،
سئمت العيش بقلبٍ هَلوع
