It initially operated completely independent, but was then restructured to become one of the 3 (and at times 4) divisions of the National Resistance Forces, NRF. The forces operated exclusively in the southwest, with the goal of capturing al-Hodeidah. The defections likely came after Riyadh influenced the PLC to reshape the military group. The Tihamah's commander-in-chief and several other senior figures were replaced with pro-PLC figures. The military group has also been withdrawn from the NRF, and now once again acts independently (but 'loyal' to the PLC). In other words, the PLC and Saudi took over yet another former STC form...
