Wayne Broadhurst, a 49-year-old street sweeper and waste services worker for Greener Ealing from Uxbridge, died at the scene in Midhurst Gardens, Uxbridge, on the afternoon of 27 October 2025 after being stabbed about 14 times. He was walking his dog Harry when he emerged from an alleyway into a confrontation. Minutes earlier, Dawood Safi, an Afghan national who entered the UK in a lorry in 2020 and was granted asylum in 2022, and who had been lodging in an annex at the home of his landlord Shahzad Farrukh. Safi also assaulted a 14-year-old boy. Neighbours confronted him in the street; Broadhurst, a stranger to him, appeared during this and was set upon in a frenzied, random and unprovoked attack. He suffered wounds to the neck, chest, back and side and died almost instantly. Safi was Tasered and arrested nearby minutes later.
