Repost from shego.codes
Before I go back to hibernating, I want to share a book recommendation.
I think every twenty-something should read
The Defining Decade. I personally call it "The Guide to Not Fk Up Your 20s."
Whenever I feel lost or confused about what I'm doing with my life, I pick this book up again.
It's written by a therapist and follows conversations with her twenty-something clients about careers, relationships, identity, and all the chaos that comes with this decade of life.

Unfortunately, there'll be no evidence that u tried, if u don't make it.
the sleepless nights,
the losses,
the doubt....
all of it will mean nothing. If u don't win.
that's why u hv to make it.
SUCCESS is the only proof.

Alphabet Language v2.3.5 is Here🫡
We just finished the biggest test run in Alphabet history. 3740+ tests. 14 binary bugs caught. 5 languages verified.
This release was built different. Every builtin function tested. Every keyword in English, Amharic, Spanish, French, and German. All 38 example programs. 21 stdlib modules. CLI, REPL, bytecode, WASM - nothing was left untouched.
14 binary bugs found during testing. For-each loops broken. Static methods failing. Abstract classes not parsing. Interfaces not recognized. Map assignments conflicting with destructuring. We caught all of them. 8 fixed in this release.
What changed:
- You can now speak your code. Voice input works in all 5 languages.
- super() calls - proper class inheritance finally works
- Closures are real now. z.map(), z.filter(), z.reduce() - all working
- Threading - spin up threads, join them, lock shared state
- Constant folding - the compiler now optimizes constant expressions at compile time
- Browser playground - run Alphabet in your browser with WASM
- REPL trace - watch your code execute 4 phases at a time, step by step
- Package manager - alphabet pkg init, install, publish
- Error hints - when something goes wrong, Alphabet tells you why
- Embedding API - drop Alphabet into your C++ apps
- Ternary operator - condition ? true : false
- 17 new stdlib modules - json, crypto, datetime, validate, functional, os, and more
- Formal language spec - 1548 lines of pure language definition
- 38 examples, 22 CLI subcommands, 21 REPL commands
The numbers:
14,073 lines of C++. 42 opcodes. 90 builtins. 5 languages. 257 test files.
This is not a minor update. This is a rewrite of what Alphabet can do.

I built a programming language that speaks your language. Literally.
When I started learning to code, I wasn't just learning programming I was learning English too. Many times, I understood the logic but struggled with the language used to express it.That experience made me realize something:
Millions of aspiring developers understand programming concepts but face an additional language barrier because nearly every major programming language is built around English keywords.
So I built Alphabet.
A programming language written from scratch in C++17 with its own compiler, bytecode VM, debugger, type system, classes, inheritance, closures, pattern matching, exception handling, and more.
The difference?
You choose your language.
"#alphabet<en>" English
"#alphabet<am>" Amharic
Same program. Same execution. Different language.
Alphabet v2.3.5 is currently in active development and open source.
