Repost from Learn Python Coding
Clean code tip in Python:
Avoid naive datetime objects — always use those that consider the time zone.
Work with them in UTC, and show the user only in their local timezone.
import datetime
from zoneinfo import ZoneInfo
# BAD
now = datetime.datetime.now()
print(now.isoformat())
# 2025-10-21T15:03:07.332217
# GOOD
now = datetime.datetime.now(tz=ZoneInfo("UTC"))
print(now.isoformat())
# 2025-10-21T12:04:22.573590+00:00
print(now.astimezone().isoformat())
# 2025-10-21T15:04:22.573590+03:00

#GDGAAURepost from Ethio Coders (ኢትዮ ኮደርስ)
Editing code in a GitHub repository can be done in several ways, depending on whether you want to edit files directly on the GitHub website or locally on your machine. Here’s a step-by-step guide for both methods:
▎Editing Directly on GitHub
1. Log in to GitHub: Go to GitHub.com and log in to your account.
2. Navigate to Your Repository: Click on your profile icon in the upper right corner, select "Your repositories," and then click on the repository you want to edit.
3. Find the File to Edit: Navigate through the folders in your repository to find the file you want to edit.
4. Edit the File:
– Click on the file name to open it.
– Click on the pencil icon (✏️) in the upper right corner of the file view to enter edit mode.
5. Make Your Changes: Edit the code as needed in the online editor.
6. Commit Your Changes:
– Scroll down to the "Commit changes" section.
– Write a brief description of your changes in the commit message box.
– Choose whether you want to commit directly to the main branch or create a new branch for your changes.
– Click the "Commit changes" button.
▎Editing Locally and Pushing Changes
If you prefer to work on your code locally (which is often recommended for larger changes), follow these steps:
1. Clone the Repository: If you haven't already cloned your repository, open your terminal or command prompt and run:
git clone https://github.com/username/repository.git
Replace username and repository with your GitHub username and repository name.
2. Navigate to Your Repository:
cd repository
3. Create a New Branch (optional but recommended):
git checkout -b new-feature
Replace new-feature with a descriptive name for your branch.
4. Edit Your Code: Open your code editor (like VS Code, Atom, etc.) and make changes to the files.
5. Stage Your Changes:
git add .
This stages all modified files for commit. You can also stage specific files by replacing . with the file names.
6. Commit Your Changes:
git commit -m "Description of changes"
7. Push Your Changes:
git push origin new-feature
This pushes your changes to the new branch on GitHub.
8. Create a Pull Request (if applicable):
– Go back to your repository on GitHub.
– You should see an option to create a pull request for your newly pushed branch.
– Click on it and fill out any necessary details before submitting.
▎Summary
• For small edits, you can use the GitHub web interface.
• For larger changes or more control, clone the repository, edit locally, and push changes back to GitHub.
Feel free to ask if you have any questions or need further assistance!
https://t.me/Ethio_Coders_channelQuestion:
What is the purpose of the
__call__ method in a Python class and provide an example of its use.
Answer:
The __call__ method allows an instance of a class to be called as if it were a function. This is useful for creating callable objects.
For example:
class Adder:
def __init__(self, increment):
self.increment = increment
def __call__(self, value):
return value + self.increment
add_five = Adder(5)
print(add_five(10)) # Outputs: 15
