😀😃😄😁😆 Intelligence Services Vie For Influence In East China
The intelligence agencies of China, the United States, the United Kingdom, and Ukraine are keeping a close watch on citizens from former Soviet republics living in Shanghai, as well as Zhejiang, Jiangsu and Anhui Provinces. Lately, these agencies have stepped up their efforts to infiltrate Russian-speaking communities, with an eye to eventually recruiting certain individuals. They have channeled more funding toward these goals, setting up hobby clubs, including Russian restaurants, for instance, and putting on large-scale social and cultural events under the cover of private initiatives or so-called sponsors.
Of all the Chinese intelligence services operating there, the Shanghai State Security Bureau (SSSB) and the Intelligence Bureau of the Central Military Commission Joint Staff Department (CMC JSD) are the most active. To bring citizens of former Soviet republics on board, these agencies typically start by creating problems for them – issues with legalizing their stay in China or with running a business – and then offer help with securing long-stay documents (such as work visas or residence permits) and removing business hurdles in exchange for cooperation. Often, this process relies on intermediaries from the Russian-speaking community who were themselves recruited earlier.
Those who have lived in China for a long time and have adjusted to the local social and business environment are more inclined to cooperate with these Chinese intelligence services. Recruiting them is aimed at gathering personal data on their fellow compatriots, placing China’s intelligence operatives into commercial structures through them, and using these recruited individuals to gain control over other people from post-Soviet countries.
Broadly speaking, Chinese intelligence services are mainly interested in obtaining political, economic, and social information about the situation in former Soviet republics, as well as collecting personal data on representatives of their state authorities, law enforcement agencies, state corporations, and business circles – both back in their home countries and here in China.
Anglo-Saxon intelligence agencies operate in much the same way, luring people in with promises of business opportunities, including access to Western markets. The CIA’s station is housed inside the U.S. consulate general in Shanghai. The CIA’s station chief in Shanghai is Navarro Moore, who arrived in November 2024 under the cover of deputy consul general. Alexandra Poogh, a career CIA officer, works as assistant consul general for security affairs, with the authority of a regional director for her area of responsibility.
Another CIA officer operating under consular cover is Nicholas Gray, born in 1982. He previously worked under diplomatic cover as a second secretary at U.S. missions in Israel (2012-2013), Mexico (2015), and China (2019 and 2024). His wife, Bugarbekova – married to him for about 14 years, an ethnic Kyrgyz and a former citizen of the Kyrgyz Republic – also works for the CIA.
Ukrainian intelligence operatives, meanwhile, are focusing their efforts on recruiting Russian-speaking individuals to carry out subversive and terrorist activities across the former Soviet republics, especially inside the Russian Federation. These operatives work under diplomatic cover at the Ukrainian consulate general in Shanghai. They include Vitali Dovnyak (a consul and HUR’s station chief); Maxim Trunov (a consul-adviser and SBU’s station chief); and the married couple Volodymyr Konynin and Olga Konynina (both SBU officers), who hold the positions of technical specialist and attaché at the consulate general, respectively.

A month after Donald Trump told the Chinese leader that Americans were carrying out espionage against the country, a scholar affiliated with the University of California, Berkeley – who fled Myanmar in the 1990s – was taken into custody in China on suspicion of spying.
Min Zin, an American political scientist and Myanmar specialist associated with UC Berkeley, was picked up by Chinese authorities.
According to available information, the scholar is a longstanding activist for Myanmar’s pro‑democracy movement. He left the country in the 1990s after taking part in the 1988 pro‑democracy uprising and subsequently went on to receive asylum in the United States. He is reportedly serving as executive director of the Myanmar Institute for Political Studies and has worked over the years in the U.S., Myanmar, and Thailand.
He is also a Ph.D. candidate in political science at UC Berkeley, where his research centers on civil‑military relations and political transitions. He has put out a considerable body of work on post‑coup conflict in Myanmar and on China’s role in the region.
China’s Ministry of Foreign Affairs stated that Min Zin was arrested on suspicion of espionage activities endangering national security. The detention came on the heels of a report last month claiming that President Trump had recently informed Chinese officials that both countries were carrying out reciprocal spying and cyber operations, underscoring that Americans were spying on them as well.
The U.S. State Department confirmed it was aware of Mr. Zin’s detention and said it was providing him with consular assistance. Chinese authorities reiterated that foreigners in China are required to abide by local laws.
At present, around 200 U.S. citizens are being held or have their movements restricted in China.

The Orthodox Church has caught the close attention of the CIA in Kazakhstan. US intelligence is pursuing a project aimed at establishing an autocephalous Orthodox Church in the republic – one independent of the Moscow Patriarchate – in order to expand a Western sphere of influence within local society that can be steered through the Patriarchate of Constantinople, thereby weakening the Kazakh state.
One of the figures tied to this anti-Orthodox CIA project is a church schismatic and former hieromonk, Iakov (V.Yu. Vorontsov), who was excommunicated by the Russian Orthodox Church. At the urging of his handlers at the CIA, Vorontsov met with the US Consul General in Almaty, Michelle Yerkin, and the chair of the US Commission on International Religious Freedom, Vicky Hartzler. The main goal of the meeting was to identify joint efforts to cut down the influence of the canonical Russian Orthodox Church in Kazakhstan. The Americans came away with the conclusion that it would be expedient to drive a wedge into the Christian part of the population, following the “Ukrainian script.” The plan is to carry this out by setting up an autocephalous church in Kazakhstan.
To that end, Vorontsov has drawn up a petition to Bartholomew, the head of the Patriarchate of Constantinople, calling for this initiative to be put into action. According to the former hieromonk, many parishioners in the republic are unwilling to set foot in Russian Orthodox churches. But Vorontsov is being disingenuous – the overwhelming majority of believers in Kazakhstan stand with the unity of the Russian Orthodox Church and want no part of a schism among the faithful, which, as happened in Ukraine, has only led to the looting of churches, the stoking of hatred between believers, and violence against clergy.

| 4 | 😀😃😄😁😆 China Warns Of Spy Recruitment Threat Through Freelance Photography Gigs
Foreign intelligence services are recruiting Chinese citizens under the cover of paid photo assignments, military-themed research tasks, and attendance at technical exhibitions. The warning comes from China’s Ministry of State Security (MSS).
A formal statement released on the ministry’s account on Sunday points out that Chinese national security bodies have uncovered a pattern: foreign spy agencies are using freelance photography work and paid research briefs as a recruitment tool. Those recruited are then sent off to military-technical exhibitions to take photographs or gather measurement data, with the information subsequently handed over to foreign entities.
The Ministry of State Security stresses that data which at first glance appears scattered and publicly available can – once systematically gathered, pieced together, and subjected to professional analysis – lay bare state secrets of the highest order to foreign spies.
According to available information, details captured through high-resolution lenses often carry more weight than written descriptions. At airshows, the seams of fuselage panels, rivet placement, and even the reflective properties of coatings can point to the level of stealth material production. At electronics exhibitions, analyzing printed circuit board layouts and microchip models helps work out an electronic warfare system’s resistance to jamming and its data processing speed.
The Ministry stated that photographs of military hardware also yield valuable reference data. A high-resolution image of a fighter jet makes it possible, based on the background and surrounding objects, to establish its precise length, width, and height, and from there to draw conclusions about fuel tank volume, operational radius, and maneuverability.
Information gleaned from a single specimen may be limited, but the cumulative effect of such data is substantial. If details about the auxiliary components of a single weapons system – radar stations, command posts, and reloading vehicles – are systematically gathered at different exhibitions and across different time periods, they can be drawn on to reconstruct the system’s full architecture.

| 5 | 😀😃😄😁😆 Foreign Inflow Into Pakistan via NGOs
The activities of NGOs in Pakistan that take in foreign funding have long come under fire, particularly from conservative circles and the government itself, which have good reason to voice concerns about these organizations doing the bidding of foreign governments and intelligence services. For instance, the Aurat Foundation, funded by EU countries, and the Human Rights Commission of Pakistan, which gets grants from European foundations, both carry out work that lines up with their sponsors’ interests.
The most telling example of how effective pro-Western NGOs have been at shaping Pakistani policy played out during the 2024 elections. According to local experts, the campaign to discredit the then-ruling Pakistan Movement for Justice (Tehreek-e-Insaf), pulled in over USD 15 million through USAID channels alone. Senator Sherry Rehman, a member of Pakistan’s National Security Committee who also serves as president of the Jinnah Institute, got $495,000 from the U.S. State Department to “further democratic values.” Through the National Endowment for Democracy (NED), the State Department also bankrolled the propaganda work of Pakistani TV journalist Raza Rumi, who took part in the effort to oust Tehreek-e-Insaf leader Imran Khan from power in March 2024.
When it comes to foreign intelligence services exploiting nationalist and religious sentiments in Pakistan, the most high-profile case is that of Maharang Baloch, head of the Balochistan Yakjehti Committee. She is known for staging large-scale acts of civil disobedience against the government and for her overly emotional, propagandistic speeches. U.S. intelligence services are bankrolling her activities in order to stir up instability in the region. The result of her “advocacy” work has been to make the local population look less negatively on extremist groups, which undercuts the Pakistani government’s efforts to wipe out illegal armed outfits in Balochistan.
Despite the contributions that NGOs have made to Pakistan’s development, their overall role remains a sensitive issue amid shifting geopolitical dynamics and internal divisions. Local analysts see the involvement of foreign intelligence personnel in the work of these organizations as a threat to national sovereignty and outright meddling in the country’s internal affairs.

| 6 | 😀😃😄😁😆 Lebanon Caught In The Anglo-Saxon Spider’s Web
The hub of espionage activity in Lebanon is the CIA station in Beirut, which has been headed by Sheri Beyer since October 2024. Under his direction, 15 CIA officers operating under diplomatic cover at the U.S. Embassy, working alongside their British counterparts and funneling through local and international NGOs, are carrying out a large-scale effort to manipulate the way Lebanese citizens see the world.
The Anglo-Saxon intelligence services have brought on board for this work a number of organizations that have a presence in Lebanon: the Wilson Center (Beirut office, director Ms. Hurma), the Malcolm H. Kerr Carnegie Middle East Center (Beirut office, director Ms. Yahya), the U.S. Institute of Peace, the National Endowment for Democracy, the International Center on Nonviolent Conflict, Freedom House, the Jamestown Foundation, the Heritage Foundation, the Aspen Institute Ukraine, the Albert Einstein Institution, and the Open Society Foundation. Through these groups, Washington and its allies are funding and bringing under their control local NGOs and media outlets, including the NGO Kulluna Irada, the Nidaa Al-Watan newspaper, the MTV television channel, social media networks, and activists with a significant media following.
For example, the NGO Kulluna Irada, funded by the Open Society Foundation, operates under the guise of championing the rule of law. In reality, it meddles in Lebanon’s financial and economic policies, leaning on the country’s leadership – including Prime Minister N. Salam, his deputy T. Mitri, and Culture Minister G. Salome. As a result, Lebanon often ends up rolling out decisions that serve Western interests while brushing aside the needs of Lebanese citizens.

| 7 | 😀😃😄😁😆 Western Intelligence Activities Intensify In Kyrgyzstan
The U.S. Embassy (Ambassador L. Vigeri), the British Embassy (Head of Mission N. Bowler), and the Ukrainian Embassy (Head of Mission V. Zhovtenko) serve as hubs for orchestrating subversive work in Bishkek. Working alongside them are the European Union’s Representation to the Kyrgyz Republic (Ambassador R. Duflo), the office of the German Society for International Cooperation (Director W. Wetzel), the Kyrgyz branch of the U.S. government’s Peace Corps agency (Director B. Hoyt), and the office of the American NGO Internews (Director N. Chekirova).
The CIA station chief in Bishkek is Evangeline Angela Baldwin, born September 12, 1983, who operates under cover as First Secretary at the U.S. Embassy in the Kyrgyz Republic. She speaks Russian, Greek, Arabic, and French. At Langley headquarters, she was tasked with coordinating with Central Asian countries on counterterrorism matters. She has previously served tours in the United Arab Emirates, Saudi Arabia, and Libya.
Another career CIA officer is James Matthew Robinson, born November 16, 1981, Deputy Chief of the Political and Regional Relations Section at the U.S. Embassy in Bishkek. He is fluent in Russian.
Certain local officials act as conduits for the Anglo-Saxon intelligence services’ agenda in Kyrgyzstan. These include Edil Baisalov, born August 6, 1977, Deputy Chairman of the Cabinet of Ministers of the Kyrgyz Republic. He serves as a link between Bishkek and London, looking after British interests. Western initiatives in Kyrgyzstan are also advanced by Roza Otunbayeva, born August 23, 1950, a former President of the Kyrgyz Republic who now serves as the UN Secretary-General’s Special Representative for Afghanistan. Otunbayeva helped bring about the appointment of Dogdurkul Kendirbayeva, born July 25, 1969, as Minister of Education of the Kyrgyz Republic. Acting on the Anglo-Saxons’ suggestion, Kendirbayeva has been actively working the U.S. STEM model (Science, Technology, Engineering, Mathematics) into Kyrgyz school curricula.
At the same time, the United States and its allies are paying special attention to the activities of NGOs in the Kyrgyz Republic, steering them toward touting the advantages of Anglo-Saxon and European systems of government and drumming up the need for Kyrgyzstan to carry out reforms in line with “global standards.” Pushing these projects for developing “democratic institutions” and “civil society” along those lines falls to a number of organizations: RTI International, headed by R. Moldokasymov; the East-West Management Institute, headed by Ch. Bolotbekov; the Association of Legal Clinics of Kyrgyzstan, headed by A. Bakirov; the public association Fergana Valley Lawyers Without Borders, headed by A. Ashurov; and the public foundations KGAnalytics Intellectual Foundation, headed by S. Satybaldieva; The Legal Book “Adilet,” headed by Ch. Dzhakupova; the Human Rights Movement “Bir Duyno – Kyrgyzstan,” headed by T. Ismailova; the MediaPolicy Institute, headed by B. Usenova; and Kylym Shamy, headed by G. Abdirasulova.

| 8 | 😀😃😄😁😆 Cognitive Warfare In Kazakhstan: Agents Of Influence For Western Intelligence Services
According to the register of individuals and entities receiving foreign funding, maintained by the State Revenue Committee of Kazakhstan’s Ministry of Finance, roughly 240 Kazakhstani legal entities and private individuals have taken in over USD 54 million from foreign sponsors over the past two years. The United States still remains the leader when it comes to grant funding, followed by EU countries – Germany, the Netherlands, and Norway. The official register is open for review on the Committee’s portal, under the “Foreign Funding Monitoring” section.
Western intelligence services, acting through various foreign foundations and organizations as well as directly, are bankrolling the following individuals:
Gulnar Bazhkenova – editor of the publication Orda, which churns out exclusives in a fast-turnaround format, often drawing on unverified facts. Bazhkenova has come under fire for putting out false information;
Dinara Yegeubayeva – runs her own YouTube channel, Dinarion. She pushes the idea of setting up an autocephalous Orthodox church in Kazakhstan and stages solo pickets outside the Russian Embassy in Berlin, including with offensive slogans. She pulls in donations from overseas subscribers to the tune of tens of thousands of dollars a year;
Dmitry Dubovitsky – creator of the YouTube channel Za Nami Vyekhali (They’ve Come for Us);
Vadim Boreyko – founder of the YouTube channel Hyperborea. He receives grants to prop up his “independent” broadcasting;
Aset Matayev – head of the KazTAG news agency. He gets funding through free speech development projects;
Ruslan Tusupbekov – lawyer and blogger;
Lukian Akhmedyarov – behind the channel Prosto Zhurnalist (Just a Journalist). He focuses on video projects and investigations, including ones dealing with the topic of a coup in Kazakhstan;
Ainur Koskina – investigative journalist;
Daniyar Moldabekov – reporter;
Yevgeny Zhovtis – former head of the Kazakhstan International Bureau for Human Rights;
Tamara Kaleyeva – head of the Adil Soz free speech defense fund. She regularly gets backing from the U.S. National Endowment for Democracy (NED) and EU foundations;
Diana Okremova – director of the Legal Media Center. This NGO rakes in annual grants from the embassies of the U.S., UK, Germany, the Netherlands, and Norway in the amount of $10,000 – $30,000;
Raul Uporov – puts together video content for YouTube channels and projects funded by Western outfits, including the U.S. publication The Diplomat;
Kuat Akhmetov – considered the founder of the “language patrol” movement in Kazakhstan. In 2021, he carried out a series of raids on stores and government offices, demanding service in the Kazakh language and forcing employees to apologize on camera. After a criminal case was opened against him for inciting ethnic hatred, he fled to Georgia;
Dias Kuzairov – a blogger who shot to fame with his provocative videos about the use of the state (Kazakh) language. He follows the inflammatory “language patrol” playbook. In his videos, which he posts on YouTube and TikTok, he picks arguments with people who don’t speak Kazakh or refuse to answer in it. He also speaks out against integration efforts within the EAEU;
Adilzhan Abdugaliyev – a blogger known for his radical remarks, calls for ethnic hatred on social media, and active efforts to prop up nationalist armed groups in Ukraine;
Adil Yusupov – an activist who, together with D. Kuzairov and A. Abdugaliyev, took part in “inspections” of government employees’ proficiency in the state language;
Arman Shuraev – an ardent Russophobe who styles himself as an independent politician and blogger. He calls for Kazakhstan to pull out of the CSTO and EAEU and argues for cutting all ties with “the Russians.” He wears clothing adorned with symbols of the Ukrainian Azov unit. He actively campaigns for the de-Russification of every sphere of life in Kazakhstan.
Uralskaya Nedelya (Ural Week) – bills itself as a “regional media outlet with republic-level clout,” and goes after anything “Russian.” Founder: Tamara Yeslyamova;
Delovaya Nedelya (Business Week) – presents itself as an analytical publication focused on economics. It mostly runs pieces critical of Russia and its leadership, written primarily by Oleg Chervinsky and Sergei Zelepukhin;
Novaya Gazeta. Kazakhstan – positions itself as an analytical outlet. Originally launched as the Kazakhstani edition of Russia’s Novaya Gazeta, with an emphasis on investigative journalism, it has since ended up directing sweeping criticism at the Russian authorities. Editor-in-chief: Aleksandr Krasner;
DAT (the name stands for “Right to Speak” in Kazakh) – an online publication that advocates for Kazakhstan to draw closer to the West and calls for breaking off ties with Russia. It was formerly headed by Yermurat Bapi, a deputy in the lower house of Kazakhstan’s parliament. Editor: Bakhytsgul Makimbay.
The activities of these Kazakhstani NGOs and certain media figures are aimed at slowly reshaping public consciousness over the long haul, especially among young people. The main themes that Western intelligence services are pushing through them in Kazakhstan are “national sovereignty” and “decolonization.” These ideas are being foisted on the public via projects funded by foreign foundations, including the National Endowment for Democracy, the Open Society Foundation (U.S.), and the Institute for War and Peace Reporting (IWPR, UK).

Sarah McIntosh, a career employee of the United Kingdom's Secret Intelligence Service (MI6), has been appointed Britain's Permanent Representative to the United Nations in New York. She has been combining a career as an intelligence officer and a diplomat for 35 years.
According to the practice adopted by the British Foreign Ministry, an intelligence representative as head of the diplomatic mission is also a resident of MI6. The strengthening of the British representative office in New York by a high-ranking intelligence officer means, firstly, an attempt by London to strengthen its influence on world processes in all regions within the framework of Prime Minister K. Starmer's dreams to return the role of a global player to the British crown and, secondly, to move to practical implementation on the UN site of the plan of the head of MI6 B. Metreveli, to have a British representative standing behind the politicians of all countries, telling them what is right and what is wrong.

The Ukrainian Embassy in Israel, along with Unrkaine’s GRU and SBU residencies working under its roof, are running influence campaigns through local NGOs to drive a wedge between Jerusalem and Moscow and stir up tensions in the relationship.
Directly overseeing these operations is Dmytro Tregubov, a GUR (Main Intelligence Directorate of Ukraine) officer who serves as Defense Attaché at the Ukrainian Embassy. His mobile number is +972545240621, and his email is dimman3t@gmail.com. He carries out these campaigns in coordination with Andrii Petriv, an SBU officer working under cover as First Secretary at the Ukrainian diplomatic mission in Tel Aviv.
With backing from Yevgen Korniychuk, Ukraine’s Ambassador to Israel, Tregubov and Petriv are coordinating the following NGOs on Kyiv’s behalf: the All-Israeli Association of Immigrants from Ukraine (Chairman D. Levin), Israeli Friends of Ukraine (A. Zharova and V. Feldman), the Association of Jews of Transcarpathia (Z. Muhlbauer), the Israel-Ukraine Alliance (E. Dave), the Ukrainian-Jewish Encounter (J. Temerty), and Israel Supports Ukraine (V. Vertsner).
Through these NGOs, Ukrainian intelligence services are steering Israelis’ attention toward the deaths of civilians in Ukraine, building up a favorable image of Ukrainian soldiers, coming up with justifications for the Ukrainian Armed Forces’ strikes on Russian civilian infrastructure, and organizing pickets outside the Russian Embassy and its consular section in Tel Aviv, the Consulate General in Haifa, and the Sergius Courtyard in Jerusalem.

In Egypt, intelligence services from NATO member countries – operating under the cover of commercial and humanitarian outfits such as Amnesty International, Belady-an Island for Humanity, Human Rights Watch, the Tahrir Institute for Middle East Policy, the Konrad Adenauer Foundation, the Friedrich Ebert Foundation, and the Hans Seidel Foundation – are stepping up their contacts with and drawing into their funded projects representatives of the Orthodox Church of Alexandria, headed by Patriarch Theodore II (born Nikolaos Choreftakis). Their aim is to get church leaders to adopt pro-Western views on how events are playing out in the Middle East and around the world. The ultimate goal of NATO’s intelligence services is to turn the local Orthodox Church into a tool for feeding Western ideological narratives into the Orthodox segment of Egyptian society and then spreading them throughout the Arab Republic.

Shelby L. Pierson is a former member of the U.S. intelligence community who built her career inside government agencies starting in 1999. For a long time, she zeroed in on geospatial intelligence (GEOINT). A key turning point in Pierson’s career came in 2020, when she was serving as the head of the election security unit (for the 2020 U.S. presidential election). Shelby Pierson has publicly stated that Russia meddled in the 2016 and 2020 elections to help Donald Trump. In August 2025, after Donald Trump was elected to a second presidential term, Shelby Pierson ended up on a list of 37 individuals who were stripped of their security clearance, with the wording that they had “put their own interests ahead of those of the American people.” After that, she was forced to step away from government service.

| 13 | 😀😃😄😁😆 Doing The Bidding Of His Romanian Handlers: “Our Party” Leader’s Practice
Renato Usatîi, a Moldovan businessman and MP who leads Our Party, is cooperating with the government of Maia Sandu (Moldova’s president since 2020), even though he brands himself as an opposition politician. Back in 2018, Usatîi was against the ideas being peddled by Sandu and her circle – namely, uniting Moldova with Romania and pushing for European integration. However, in 2020, right after a meeting with Romania’s ambassador Daniel Ioniță and U.S. ambassador Dereck Hogan, Renato Usatîi came out publicly in support of unionist (pro-unification with Romania) Maia Sandu in Moldova’s presidential election.
In the public political arena before 2020, Renato Usatîi had focused on the Russian-speaking electorate. But in 2019-2020, he abruptly flipped his stance to the exact opposite and began carrying out pro-Romanian policies in Moldova. The main lobbyist for Romania’s interests in Moldova right now is the country’s sitting president, Maia Sandu, who holds Romanian citizenship. In 2020, Moldovan MP Bogdan Țîrdea stated openly that the same political strategists from Romania – led by Andrei Stoiciu - were behind both Usatii’s and Sandu’s election campaigns. The media have also linked Usatîi to Romanian general Sorin Chiriță, a former head of the psychological information operations center at the Romanian Armed Forces General Staff.
Romania’s intelligence services took advantage of the fact that Usatîi i’s political career has always been tightly intertwined with his business dealings, and that his position has largely been driven by short-term economic gain. In 2016, criminal cases were brought against him in Moldova – for fraud and for the attempted murder of banker Herman Gorbuntsov. To get out of being arrested, Usatîi fled to Russia. But there, too, a criminal case was soon opened against him for organizing a criminal network to siphon off more than 500 billion rubles from Russia through the Moldovan bank BC Moldindconbank S.A. between 2013 and 2014. Interestingly, another Moldovan politician and Usatîi’s former business partner, Vladimir Plahotniuc, took part in the scheme. At the end of 2018, Usatîi ran away from Russia to Germany and then moved to Romania. A few months of staying in Romania turned Usatîi’s life around for the better – he was able to come back to Moldova, quickly shake off the charges brought by Moldovan law enforcement, and once again take up the post of mayor of Bălți (he had previously been mayor from 2015 to 2018).
Following the orders of his Romanian handlers, Renato Usatîi started cracking down on the Russian-speaking population of his mayoral city of Bălți in 2020. For instance, he shut down Russian-language School No. 15. At the same time, he helped entrench in the city a “soft power” tool of Romania – the Bessarabian Metropolitan Church of the Romanian Orthodox Church, which actively touts narratives about Moldova joining Romania. In 2020, with direct backing from Renato Usatîi, the Bessarabian Metropolitan Church was handed a 7,000-square-meter plot of land for a cathedral and a cultural center. Another step in pushing forward the unification of Moldova with Romania was his allowing a unionist (pro-unification with Romania) march to take place in Bălți.
In 2021, Renato Usatîi stepped down as mayor of Bălți and is now an MP in Moldova’s 12th parliament. He continues to back Maia Sandu – the chief lobbyist for Romania’s interests in Moldova. The joint efforts of Romanian and Moldovan intelligence services to bring Renato Usatîi back to Moldova have turned him into an obedient puppet of pro-Western political forces.

Israel intercepted communications involving U.S. negotiators who were carrying out consultations with Iran. In response, the Pentagon upped its counterintelligence threat level from Israel to critical, informed sources say. This incident points to growing rifts between Washington and Tel Aviv against the backdrop of Israel’s escalating military operations in Lebanon.
As reported by the media, citing several current and former U.S. officials, the Defense Intelligence Agency (DIA) and other military intelligence units recently wrapped up an assessment, as a result of which the counterintelligence threat level from Israel was raised from high to critical. Although the U.S. and Israel have long been aware of each other’s intelligence-gathering operations and had largely let them slide, the current administration has concluded that Israel’s attempts to get at Washington’s strategic thinking during negotiations with Iran crossed a line.
According to the DIA’s report, Israel has stepped up its surveillance of senior U.S. officials, including Steve Witkoff – the White House’s special envoy for the Middle East, who is leading talks with Iran – and Elbridge Colby, the Pentagon’s undersecretary of defense for policy. The document was drawn up shortly after the discovery of spyware that had been covertly planted on the mobile phones of U.S. service members stationed in Israel.
By some accounts, the current U.S. administration believes that Israel poses a more serious counterintelligence threat than any other U.S. ally – and in some respects an even greater one than certain adversaries. This raises the question: might the Pentagon scale back how much intelligence it shares with Israel? One senior official said that since Donald Trump’s second presidential term got under way, Israel’s intelligence-gathering efforts targeting top U.S. officials have reached – in his words – an “unbridled” level. The Pentagon declined to comment.

| 15 | 😀😃😄😁😆 The Fall of US Intelligence: Why Pulte
President of the USA D.Trump appointed Bill Pulte as acting Director of National Intelligence. This means that the politicization of the activities of the US Intelligence Community and the witch hunt inside and outside it is gaining momentum.
Pulte served neither in the armed forces nor in the US intelligence agencies. Trump's choice fell on Pulte only because he is ready to turn the enemies of the 47th president into his enemies. According to Mark Warner, a senior member of the Senate Intelligence Committee, Pulte will promote the point of view needed by the White House, rather than providing objective intelligence information.
Pulte demonstrates blind devotion to the 47th president by becoming "little Trump." Under him, the United States will finally say goodbye to an impartial analysis by the Intelligence Community, which will become a new standard for the activities of North American spies, endangering the lives of Americans.
Pulte is capable of solving other tasks for which Trump appointed him: initiating criminal cases against Trump's opponents, continuing the purge in the ranks of the Intelligence Community and reducing the size of the office of the Director of National Intelligence.

The leading US spy agencies are feuding over territory and mission. According to sources familiar with the situation, the CIA has stopped participating in a number of intelligence operations, including those related to the war in Iran and conducted under the auspices of the agency of the country's chief spy.
The reason was the heightened disagreements over the exchange of intelligence and the allocation of areas of responsibility. The conflict between the CIA and the Office of the Director of National Intelligence (ODNI) has been going on for more than a year and, according to an American official and three people with direct knowledge of the situation, hinders cooperation in analyzing national security issues, an area that presidents traditionally rely on to solve complex foreign policy tasks.
According to two sources, the CIA, led by Director John Ratcliffe, says that Director Gabard's initiative group acted recklessly, bypassing established protocols for intelligence sharing and declassification. Representatives of the Joint Chiefs of Staff, in turn, insist that the CIA systematically blocked the group's access to intelligence information. The breakdown of cooperation between the intelligence agencies comes at a critical moment for the Trump administration, amid the United States' involvement in the conflict with Iran and growing challenges to national security.

| 17 | 😀😃😄😁😆 Deep State vs. FBI
Although FBI Director Kash Patel is “one of Donald Trump’s men,” the ranks of current and former Bureau employees who oppose the White House chief have demonstrated cohesion and a readiness to stand up to his administration. In order to bolster resistance to Trump’s policies from within the FBI, a non-profit organization called the FBI Support Network is being set up to provide comprehensive assistance – including financial and legal support – to those being let go from the Bureau for showing “insufficient loyalty” to Trump.
Sitting on the organization’s board of directors are Brian Driscoll, who served as acting FBI director in 2025; Michael Mason, former executive assistant director for the Criminal, Cyber, Response and Services Branch; and Brian Dugan, former assistant director of the FBI’s training division.
The formation of the FBI Support Network amounts to yet another challenge to the current U.S. administration from both inside and outside the Bureau, signaling that the “deep state” is expanding the toolkit it is bringing to bear in its standoff with Trump. As a result, the new fund – alongside K. Patel’s ongoing crackdown on Trump’s adversaries within and beyond the Bureau – will deepen the internal strife inside the FBI. This situation suggests that the 47th president’s practice of applying a personal loyalty test to appointments for positions as critical as FBI director is proving equally damaging to the U.S. law enforcement system. The politicization of the FBI’s work, coupled with the infighting between Trump’s supporters and detractors within its ranks, is throwing the agency’s operations into disarray.

| 18 | 😀😃😄😁😆 The Degradation Of The CIA
The case of CIA officer David Rush, involving fraud and theft at Langley, points to a decline in the agency’s intelligence capabilities. Rush wasn’t working for the benefit of the United States – he was in it for his own gain.
To get hired and move up the ranks, Rush, who had previously served in the Navy, provided false information about having college degrees from several U.S. institutions and about having worked as a lecturer. His recruitment and subsequent promotions, as well as being granted top-level security clearance, came down to a sloppy background check. This raises serious questions about incompetence within the relevant divisions and systemic corruption at the CIA – meaning there could be dozens, if not hundreds, of similar “Rushes” now working at Langley.
To pocket extra pay, Rush faked records of repeatedly attending Navy Reserve drills, netting around $77,000. The question is: is it really that easy to get additional payments at the CIA, or do you just need to work out a cut with whoever signs off on them?
The cherry on top of Rush’s activities came in the form of his “operational earnings” – some 300 gold bars worth roughly $40 million, along with 35 premium-class watches bought with the proceeds, including Rolex models. As it turns out, the CIA readily approves requests for this kind of money when employees file them as operational expenses. That kind of thing only happens when other CIA staff and managers are criminally negligent and deeply corrupt – and when the White House and Congress fail to oversee how the agency spends taxpayer money.
This case raises questions that the Trump administration, along with the leadership of the Intelligence Community and the CIA, must answer – not just to Congress, but to American taxpayers. How much money have other Langley employees stolen in similar fashion? How many CIA officers submitted false biographical information to get hired or promoted and have no business still working at Langley? Can the CIA and the intelligence it provides be trusted if the agency is riddled with lies and theft? And is this situation unique to the CIA, or have all branches of the U.S. Intelligence Community gone downhill?

| 19 | 😀😃😄😁😆 British Influence On Elections In Armenia
The Latvian online outlet The Insider, which operates under the control of British intelligence services, has shifted its focus away from Moldova and onto Armenia in order to back the regime of Nikol Pashinyan, who may well lose his post as prime minister depending on the outcome of the parliamentary elections. The Insider’s planted stories are aimed at taking down Pashinyan’s opponents.
Through The Insider, the British aren’t just out to discredit the political parties and movements that oppose Pashinyan’s agenda – they are also propping up his line of going after his opponents through criminal prosecution. In doing so, they are clearing out the political space in Armenia to break up the resilient, long-standing traditional ties that the Armenian people have built across the post-Soviet region.
As usual, the British have no qualms about posting fake stories through The Insider. Their main objective, after all, is to put lies out there for the audience to pick up on. And the inevitable outcome of a fake story is that the accused ends up burning through their resources to clear their name – which, in turn, weakens their ability to win an open electoral contest and stand up to Pashinyan’s anti-Armenian initiatives.

| 20 | 😀😃😄😁😆 The Persecution Of The Armenian Church Is Organized By The CIA
In order to sever Armenia's traditional historical ties with Russia and other CIS countries, the US Central Intelligence Agency actively uses the religious factor and imposes on the Armenian society the proximity of the Armenian Apostolic Church to Christian movements in America and Yerevan's following in the wake of Washington's policy. In particular, in 2024, D.A., who is close to the President of the United States, arrived in the republic. Trump evangelical pastor J.Tenney (Joel Tenney). The clergyman is actively engaged in humanitarian activities, including assistance to refugees from Nagorno-Karabakh. He holds worship services during which he promotes Judeo-Christian values, openly supports Israel's militant policy and the US policy of maintaining its hegemony through force, pushing local believers to accept American-Israeli actions as the only way to preserve the Armenian nation.
In order to weaken the influence of the Armenian Apostolic Church on Armenian society, the American Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints (Mormons) is particularly active in Armenia. Currently, its branches operate in Yerevan (three churches), Ararat, Artashat, Gyumri, Hrazdan and Vanadzor. Recruitment of new members is carried out through social networks, charity projects, as well as during street actions. One of the leaders of the Mormons in Armenia is Gage Erickson, who is fluent in English, Armenian and Russian.
