Hey look, a new way to make friends! It's a beautiful concept. I think it'll work very well, and I hope it takes off! Besides that, I wanna appreciate how well executed the pixel aesthetic is. It's so good that I can almost hear 8-bit sounds when I click around! I'm sure there are improvements incoming but this one's worth a try.

The 10 Commandments series by the Bible Project was so beautifully made and so informative. I recommend checking out the podcast episodes for each command as well. The Commandments as Wisdom 1. No Other gods 2. No Idols 3. Do not take God's name in vain 4. Remember the Sabbath 5. Honor your Father and Mother 6. Do not kill 7. Do not commit adultery 8. Do not steal 9. Do not bear false witness 10. Do not desire your neighbor's possessions Bonus: checkout the BTS and also the Full Collection videos. Super fun and I'm so grateful of The Bible Project. #YouTube #Spiritual #BibleProject @Dagmawi_Babi

Move out Best case scenario: you establish an independent life and become a successful "adult" Worst case scenario: you fail to maintain yourself out there. Fortunately you only go back to where you started a year ago... But with very valuable life lessons. Stay with your parents Best case: you save money, you support your parents Worst case: you're extremely dependent and spent 1 more adult year not knowing how to take care of yourself. And yeah somehow your still broke.

I saw some people got offended by this post, and I just wanted to share ma storry As someone who lives alone, I understand how hard life can be, especially in Addis. Working as a junior dev and living by yourself is not easy you’re just going to live from paycheck to paycheck. But at the same time, there is something special about knowing you are responsible for your own life and decisions. I remember when I moved out (it’s been 10 months now). My best friend called me and said, “You better not move out. Life is not going to go the way you expect. You’ll end up going back to your mom’s house, and that will be embarrassing.” And I asked, “Why would that be embarrassing?” At least I tried to build a life on my own. I think that’s something to respect, not something to be ashamed of. after that conversation, I never called her again. Yes, it’s hard. There were days when I wished my mom was here and thought wedebet selememeles. But that’s life. You struggle, you learn, and you grow. The things that challenge you can make you stronger. I’m still only 10 months into living by myself, and I know I still have a lot to learn. But going back is not part of my plan. I have bigger plans for myself. And for people who really want to move out but are scared ask yourself if you truly want it. When I was in university, I used to say I would move out after graduation. I didn’t know if I would get a job or how things would work, but I knew how much I wanted that independence. When you truly want something, you work toward it. Also, everyone doesn’t have to move out. If you live with your family and support them, that is also a great choice. Helping your family instead of paying rent can be meaningful too I know everyone is trying their best. just keep trying eshi 😊 #story #my_thoughts

FAAS Friend As a Service

Look I'm glad they're coming with creative solutions like Enkoy (that's the name of the service I mentioned) and I want y'all to know I'm not really irked by THAT. I just think I'm oblivious to the fact that so many people have too few (good) friends... And that's what I'm being surprised with.

Am I tweaking or am I seeing a lot more posts and talk about "making new friends" Recently I even watched a whole ad about this online service here in Addis that you sign up for with a few of your personal details. They matchmake you with 4 other people... And 5 of you go out on this hangout and the service also has conversation cards that you use to socialize and mingle. Idk, I felt like this was some dystopian reality I couldn't imagine being real. Is the loneliness epidemic that bad out here?

And then running a business without a business license makes you do introduces a new level of circus tricks you have to learn to survive under the radar 😭

It's not just about being okay with paying bribes but you're also expected to understand the secret language of bribery. They never actually say, "Give me a bribe." No, no. There’s a whole invisible conversation happening, and somehow everyone else got the dictionary except me. I take things literally. If someone tells me, "Go," I’m already halfway out the door. Meanwhile, they’re staring at me like I just broke some ancient social rule. I'm trying my best to fit in already, leave me alone.
