IFoS 2024 Notification is out.
150 vacancies.
IFoS is a service which gives maximum return on your time and efforts invested. Being one of the all India services, along with IAS and IPS, it offers similar perks and facilities.
The main hurdle lies in clearing the prelims. But once you clear prelims, the optionals can be prepared within 2-3 months.
In order of preference, IFoS definitely comes before IRS, but with much easier and predictable exam. While getting under 200 rank for IAS/IPS is very luck dependent thing, clearing IFoS on other hand is mostly about being able to complete the mains paper in average manner.
Try to make the best use of the opportunity. Make sure you prepare well for Prelims and the rest of the stages is going to be a cake walk.

Important for
✅ Prelims
✅ Value addition for Forestry Optional
MoEFCC launches the Indian #Forest and Wood Certification Scheme. This national forest certification scheme offers voluntary third-party certification designed to promote sustainable forest management and agroforestry in the country. The scheme includes forest management certification, tree outside forest (TOF) management certification, and chain of custody certification.
The Indian Forest and Wood Certification Scheme can provide market incentives to various entities that adhere to responsible forest management and agroforestry practices in their operations. This includes state forest departments, individual farmers, or Farmer Producer Organizations as well as other wood-based industries in the value chain.

Endemic Species
Acing UPSC through reverse engineering.
Clearing IFoS cutoff requires you to score 12-15 marks more than CSE cutoff. This is something which is hard to achieve through rote memorization. Acads IFS @IndianForestServices provides you smart strategies to gain that extra edge!
A lot of times UPSC has asked questions like "_ Animal is only found/endemic to this region". You can have two approaches to tackle such questions.
First, memorising each and every animal and remembering their locations.
Second, knowing that only 15-20 animals are important and endemic to Indian locations
