| 2 |  🤖 Last time: how to DM every single one of your followers. The obvious follow-up question — who actually writes 30 different messages a day?
Nobody does. That's the point of this one.
What changed: HikerAPI ships an official MCP server. One command wires it into Claude Code, and from that moment the assistant reads Instagram profiles itself. No script, no Postman, no spreadsheet.

The workflow, technically:
1️⃣ Resolve the account — every followers endpoint wants a numeric user_id, not a username. One call.
2️⃣ Page the follower list — ~50 per request, no cap on the total. A 10,000-follower list is around 200 requests, roughly 20 cents.
3️⃣ ⚠️ Here's the catch nobody mentions: the follower list gives you a handle, a name, a profile pic, and two flags. That's it. No bio. No follower counts. No category. We checked every row of a full page on all three follower endpoints — the bio isn't in any of them. The list gives you names. Enrichment gives you a person.
4️⃣ Enrich only tomorrow's batch — the ~30 you're actually messaging. One call each returns the bio, the link in bio, follower/following/post counts. One more returns their recent posts, captions and location tags.
5️⃣ Why only 30? Not cost — freshness. At 25 DMs/day a 30k list is a 1,200-day queue. A bio pulled today would land in a message sent 18 months from now. Stale personalization reads worse than none.
6️⃣ One signal, one line. Claude Code pulls exactly ONE concrete thing per person — a bio topic, a recent caption, the link they chose — then writes a single sentence around it.
7️⃣ Out comes `username,message` — exactly what Targeted DM Campaign imports. A different message per row.
What the first message is allowed to be: under 120 characters, one open question, no pitch, no link, no offer. It never mentions the data — no "I saw in your bio", no follower counts. Its only job is a reply. The funnel happens in message three, not message one.
Real examples:
› *"okay, Lisbon AND Bali in one year — which one would you go back to first?"*
› *"5am leg day is criminal 😅 do you actually train that early every day?"*
› *"hey, thanks for the follow! what made you hit follow — the posts or the stories?"*
Now the honest part — we measured this instead of guessing. We enriched real followers of two accounts and counted how many actually had something writable:
📊 On a focused, niche account: 87% had a usable signal — a real bio, real posts.
📊 On a 104-million-follower mega-account: 57%. Nearly half were empty profiles with no bio and zero posts.
So plan for the blanks. Between one in eight and one in two people will have nothing to work with, depending on your audience. Those get a neutral opener — and that's the correct outcome, not a bug. An AI that finds a clever detail for every single person is inventing them, and invented personalization is worse than none.
Two things we'd have liked to use and can't: profile category turned up on 0–33% of accounts, and city on 0–7%. Location, when you get it at all, is usually just written in the bio text.
Cost of 30 personalized DMs: ~65 API requests. Under 10 cents.
⚠️ One expensive gotcha: fire the calls too fast and they fail at the connection level — but you still get billed for them. We burned 14 requests and received nothing at all. Space them out, 2–3 per second.
Everything here is public profile data, and the API is read-only — it can't send, follow or like anything. Sending stays in Onimator, dripped at 20–30/day per account, built up gradually — *our own range from our own testing, not an Instagram limit.* And a human reads the CSV before it goes up. Every time.

Open Onimator → settings → AI Assistant Access (MCP) → turn on Enable MCP server. You get two tokens: read-only and full access. Start read-only. Hit Copy Claude Code command, paste it in your terminal, done.
📁 The one detail that unlocks everything
Start Claude Code inside your Onimator folder. MCP gives your assistant your configuration — devices, accounts, settings, source lists, Job Orders. But your bot's action history lives in files in that folder. Start it there and it reads both — that's when daily reports become possible.

Two comments, under the same post. A photo of a dog, flat out in the grass. The caption only says: *"chilling after a good running session."*
The first one was written from the caption alone:
"ohh you look sweaty! i love running too 😅"
The second one read the whole screen:
"cute! my puppy looks exactly like this after a good play session at the park 😂"
One of those is talking to somebody who isn't even in the picture. And that's the whole point.
On Instagram, a post is two things — a picture and a caption. The caption is usually the smaller half. It can be three words, an emoji, or nothing at all. Anything that only reads text is working half blind.
Ours reads what's actually on the screen. The photo becomes context, right next to the caption. So the comment is about *that* post — not about posts in general.
