Ingeborg the Fair by Swedish artist Mårten Eskil Winge. Winge became interested in the Sagas as a young man, and much of his work was heavily influenced by themes within Norse mythology. He was also attracted to Gothicism, the movement in Sweden under the influence of national romanticism which sought to reclaim the Norsemen as heroic ancestors.

One thing I’ve noticed about the Germanic Heathen and Odinist community is that most people attend to be hyper focused on the viking era. Although it was a beautiful time within our peoples history in reality the Viking era is a tiny part of the Germanic peoples history. Us Germani have much more history than people realize and it’s saddening to see. Our history spans from the Nordic Bronze Age, the proto Germanic (Jastorf Culture) period, the migration era and even the Vendel period. We have countless Germanic tribes, clans and people groups recorded throughout our history. Most of our greatest hero’s didn’t even live during the Viking era as the Germanic heroic age spanned across the migration and Vendel period. It’s great that the viking age is as popular as it is now, but people need to learn to worship the rest of our ancestors.
