Lagos to Implement Blockchain for Land Registry
The Lagos State government plans to digitize its land cadastre and ownership registry using blockchain technology, partnering with local tech firms to enhance land use management. The new blockchain-based system aims to create a secure and transparent platform for tracking land transactions, addressing longstanding issues of corruption, inefficiency, and lack of transparency.
Officials believe this initiative will boost the real estate market and attract both local and international investors. The move follows Nigeria’s national digital transformation plan, approved by the Federal Executive Council last year, encouraging the widespread adoption of blockchain technology.
