On 17-19 May, the Moscow Region hosted the 32nd annual Assembly of the Council on Foreign and Defence Policy (SVOP), which brought together leading representatives of the expert community, diplomats, military men, entrepreneurs and journalists.
The Assembly began with a team political scenario game named Edge and Limits of Escalation and geared to model possible scenarios of developments in case NATO forces become involved in hostilities in Ukraine.
The SVOP consisted of three sessions:
🔵Talks on the Domestic Situation;
🔵International Environment and Foreign Policy Priorities;
🔵Still the Measure of all Things. Man in a Mad Raging World. Why a man? Why Russian? Institution of a Man?
The event was supported by the Gorchakov Fund.

Call for applications to join the CIRP-2024 Summer School!⚡
On 9-12 July, the Leningrad Region will host the CIRP Summer School on a topic called Russia and the South Caucasus amid New Geopolitical Reality. The event is organised in cooperation with and with the support of the Gorchakov Fund.
Senior undergraduate students, graduate and postgraduate students of higher education institutions are welcome to participate. Studying international relations, political science, or international journalism is considered an advantage. Working languages are Russian and English.
In order to take part in the contest, you need:
🟡to write an essay of no more than 200 words on the topic of the School (your essay must be attached to the online application form);
🟡fill in the participant application form via Yandex.Forms.
📌Working languages: Russian and English.
Deadline for applications is 9 June, 23:59 Moscow time.

We are back with the grant projects digest of the past week👇
🇰🇬Kyrgyz Republic hosts discussions on migration policy
They took place in Bishkek on 14-15 May. The discussions were attended by representatives of authorities, community-based organisations, and the expert community from eight countries.
The delegates shared experience of the CIS states on this track, proposed measures to improve work with migrants and members of their families.

🇷🇺🇧🇾Interregional cooperation of Russia and Belarus
On 16 May, Grodno hosted the concluding event of a project titled Russia-Belarus: a Strong Partnership 2. The results of the work done were summarised.
The speakers noted that during the implementation of the project it brought closer together the leadership of the two regions and the majority of municipalities and districts, representatives of NPOs, as well as cultural, educational and sports institutions.

🌟Festival Russian Days in Republika Srpska comes to an end
On 18 May, Banja Luka hosted an international conference which kicked-off the three-day festival.
The experts stressed that it is important to enhance cooperation in cultural, social and scientific fields, as both sides have rich experience, as well as historical, research and technical capacities.

🏔Results of the Ambassadors of the Russian Language project held in the South Caucasus states
On 12-19 May, experts of the Total Dictation Foundation visited Armenia, Georgia and Azerbaijan. The educational events were attended by more than 150 philologists, teachers, lecturers and community activists.
The main formats of their work with the audience were lectures, workshops, project presentations and linguistic quizzes.

Gorchakov Fund concludes the courses for NPOs in Baku🇦🇿
On 20 May, the capital of Azerbaijan hosted courses for representatives of non-profit organisations held by the Gorchakov Fund with the support of the Russian House in Baku and Association of Russian Youth of Azerbaijan.
Head of the Russian House in Baku Irek Zinnurov and Deputy Executive Director of the Gorchakov Fund Victoria Karslieva addressed the participants with welcoming remarks.
The working programme included:
🟡a workshop on legal and financial peculiarities of implementing grant projects in Azerbaijan;
🟡lectures on media coverage of NPO activities;
🟡advisory support from the Gorchakov Fund team.
