High energy electron from NADH & FADH2 transferred through electron transport chain/ETC by redox reaction 2. The energy released from redox reaction in ETC is used to pump hydrogen ions from matrix of mitochondria into intermembrane space 3. This create proton gradient/ proton-motive force 4. Hydrogen ions flow back from intermembrane space into matrix of mitochondria down the concentration gradient through ATP synthase by chemiosmosis 5. ATP synthase phosphorylate ADP to ATP 6. One NADH will produce 3 ATP & One FADH2 will produce 2 ATP 7. Oxygen act as final electron acceptor will accept electrons and combine with hydrogen ions to form water
