On the word "Nazi"
NAZI is an artificial political term, invented in 1920 by Konrad Heiden, a Jewish journalist and member of the German Social Democratic Party (SOZI), which competed with the NSDAP, with the aim of humiliating the followers of Hitler's ideology and the party itself. Konrad Heiden's work was considered important by the American OSS (the CIA's forerunner) for anti-German propaganda. In the Austrian-Bavarian dialect there is a word "Ignatz" (similar to 'ignorant'), which is consonant with "nazi". Later, the term "Nazis" began to be used by emigrants who fled Germany after Hitler came to power, and soon this concept became as common as "fascism" and "fascists", which were words widely used primarily by communists, anarchists and other leftists to refer to all anti-communists and right-wingers in general, including American McCarthyism.
