"ትምህርት ሚንስቴር ይህን ጉዳይ እንዴት ያየዋል? ጤና ሚንስቴርስ?" እንደሚታወቀው ከባለፈው አመት ጀምሮ ለ12ተኛ ክፍል ተማሪዎች መፈተኛ በሚል ሁሉም የግቢ ተማሪዎች ዩንቨርስቲውን ለቅቀው እንዲወጡ እየተደረገ ነው። ዘንድሮም ቦርሳህን ጠቅልለህ፣ የበሶ መምቻህን ሰብስበህ እንድትወጣ፣ ከሰኔ 30 በኋላ እህል አንሰጥህም የሚል አንድምታ ያለው ማስታወቂያ ተለጥፎልናል። ያሳሰበኝ ነገር እንዴት እንደቀላል ነገር ውጡ ይባላል? ብዙ ኪሎ ሜትር አቋርጠን የተሰበሰብን መሆናችን እንዴት ይዘነጋል? ጋሽ ተክሉ የሚባል የስምንተኛ ክፍል ባዮሎጂ መምህር ነበረን። በወቅቱ በአካባቢያችን ኮፒ ቤት ስላልነበረ ፈተና የምንወስደው በቦርድ ከተፃፈልን በኋላ ነበር። እናም ጋሽ ተክሉ ሊፈትነን ሲፈልግ ክፍሉን ለቀን ከውጭ እንድንቆይ ያደርጋል፣ ፀሀይ እንዳያሰለቸን ዣንጥላውን ዘርግቶ ያቀብለናል፤ ከዚያ በቦርዱ ጥያቄውን ፅፎ እንደጨረሰ ወደ ክፍል እንድንገባ ይፈቅድልናል። ትምህርት ሚኒስቴር እንድንወጣ ሲነግረን እንደ ጋሽ ተክሉ ዣንጥላ አያቀብለንም፤ ግቢውን እንድንለቅለት እንጂ የኛን እንግልት ከቁብ አይቆጥርም። የጉዞ መስመሮች በሙሉ ስጋት የሞላባቸው ሆነዋል፤ የትራንስፖርት ገንዘብ ይገርፈናል፣ ስንት የትራንስፖርት ገንዘብ መክፈል የማይችል ተማሪ እንዳለ አይታሰብም፤ ጀርባህ ላይ ለተሸከምከው ቦርሳ 20 ብር የሚያስከፍል ጫኝ አውራጅ እንዳፈራን ተዘንግቷል። በዚያ ላይ የማይተካው ጊዜያችንንስ እንዴት እናድርገው? ብዙ ዩንቨርስቲዎች አንዴ ካስዎጡህ በዚያው ይረሱሀል፤ ጊዜ ቆሞ አይጠብቅምና ሳትመረቅ እርጅና እየተጫነህ ይመጣል፤ እኔ በበኩሌ ጀርባየ መጉበጥ ጀምሯል፤ በዚሁ ከቀጠልን ምርቃት ስትደርስ ከዘራ መጨበጥህ አይቀርም፤ ከዚያ በትንሹ ሁለት አመት ስራ እስከምታፈላልግ አይንህ መደብዘዝ ይጀምራል፤ ከዚያ ለተከታታይ ሁለት ሳምንት ያህል ስራ እንደተቀጠርህ   የጡረታ ወረቀት ይደርስሀል። ተው ሆድ አታስብሱን! ሼር ብታደርጉት ደግሞ ደስ ይለኛል አለሙ መልሰው: C1 ከHakim page የተወሰደ @havancoctutorialpreparation

16. At times things get messed up. You will do something wrong at some point. The important thing is to be honest and report it objectively, so corrective measures can be taken. You will learn from your mistake. The media and law will not always be on your side, you have to know that as well. 17. You need to be really good at working with other people. Being a doctor is not a single person show. It is a team work with other doctors, nurses, and hospital staff. Learning how to get along with different personalities is a huge, and challenging, part. 18. You are going to learn just as much from your peers as you will senior physicians. No doctor is good at everything. See which of your fellow doctors have the skills you lack and pay attention. 19. Being a doctor is also a ton of paper work. A lot of medicine is documentation. If you don’t write down that something happened, it’s like it never happened. You have to honestly and objectively document everything. 20. It is always going to be difficult when a patient dies. No matter how often it happens in your line of work, having a patient die will always be sad. 21. Doctors and nurses at times don’t get along. Problem happen more often with old nurses and young doctors. The nurses feel like they know better, and young doctors don’t feel like they are getting support. 22. Be prepared to move from places to places. It’s is hard to stay in one place for med school, residency, fellowship and the jobs that come after. 23. You are not going to get rich. You will be comfortable, but you will never be rich. [If you calculate what you make per hour, your friends making the same salary are literally working half the hours you are.] You will graduate with a cost sharing debt of 427,000ETB from med school. If your plan is to get rich in life, you are in the wrong place. Because medicine is not about the money. 24. People will always think you are being paid higher. Only another doctor understands your life well. 25. If you are not interested in volunteer opportunities, medicine is not the right place for you. Because volunteering demonstrates concern and empathy. As a doctor you will always need to make sacrifices for others. 26. If you are joining medicine forced by family members, you will end up cursing them all through med school. Don’t do it, you will be living your life for someone else. 27. If you have partner/spouse, they should be supportive of your choice to study medicine. Given the emotional unavailability and time constraint, you will end up in breakup if you didn’t discuss it ahead of time. 28. The most important years of the early twenties will be spent in med school, when you go out you can’t easily connect with someone from other fields. 29. You might not know exactly what kind of doctor you want to be until the end of med school. A lot of people go into medicine because they like science or the idea of helping people or saving people’s lives, but with no idea of what they actually want to do. 30. When you choose a speciality, you are pretty much choosing it for life. You can’t move around different roles without a ton of time and schooling. So think really carefully when you do make that decision. 31. You need to shadow another physician working in a hospital for the summer and see what it means to be a doctor before you decide to join medicine. Visit hospitals, clinics, emergency rooms. Decisions to join medicine are being made usually without knowing about the profession. Below I have compiled a list of facts 1. The medical profession is only meant for those individuals who can cope up with the extremes. Medicine is not a smooth path. It has a lot of ups and downs. 2. This profession should not be taken as a family tradition. My grandfather is a doctor, my father is a doctor, and hence I need to be a doctor. This doesn’t work!!! 3. The medical profession is meant for people who appreciate the worth of waiting. Nothing is going to happen in a day. Or in a month. Or even in a year. It takes years altogether to get established. That is where passion comes into play. If you are passionate about what you are doing, the wait is just a matter of time. 4. The medical profession is meant for those who do not compare. My friend is working abroad, I need to go to. Or, my aunt’s daughter is getting married. I am still in college. The moment one compares themselves to another person from a different course, it creates a hollowness which sucks in all kinds of depressive thoughts. 5. The medical profession is for those who are strong enough to fight depression. The training is tough and has a lot of exams. 6. One needs to set clear boundaries for study time and fun time. In medicine you are not going to be trained only for the exams, it is mostly for the day you will stand between the sick and death. 7. In medicine the schooling never stops. Undergraduate takes ‘only Seven years’, everybody you know from high school will graduate while you are doing your undergraduate. Then comes specialization of 3-5 years depending on the field you choose. Then sub-specialization of 2-3 years will follow. 8. Social life will be sacrificed. Your friends from high school and your relatives will think you are avoiding them because of pride, after being med student. Only another medical student understands your true reasons. There is always something to study. 9. The hierarchy, basically getting up the medical ladder entails that you start from the bottom, answer to everyone higher than you. You will do this until you finally get up the ladder. 10. You will put your whole life on hold. Be prepared to give up your life, because the time commitment is even more than you think. Say good bye to your weekends and evenings. Marriage, children, house, car….these things come late. You need to be comfortable with that. 11. The work schedule is not like other jobs. You will have the regular 8 hours day time work at the hospital, and comes the night shifts with or without day offs next day. You need to be comfortable with losing night sleeps and skipping meals. ‘Tired’ is not an excuse there, emergency always comes. Human lives are on the line. 12. You are expected to treat the first patient and the one you will see on your 36th hour with the same level of enthusiasm, accuracy, and vigilance. This is not joke!!! It his human life you will be dealing with. It needs extreme focus and quick decision making. One false step and the patient will be history. You have to be a responsible human if you want to join medicine. 13. You will need to be really organized with yourself in med school, and you will need to be even more once you become a doctor. Good doctors are incredibly dedicated and perfectionists in everything they do. No one wants a doctor who doesn’t try her absolute best. 14. You are not going to be the smartest person in the room anymore. You probably spent your entire academic years being the most intelligent person you knew, but when you become a doctor, you’re surrounded by brilliant people. There will always be someone who knows more than you do, you need to be comfortable with that sooner and learn from them. 15. You are never going to know everything. It can really be daunting at times. You need to catch up with new discoveries and study findings. It is a lifelong learning. – No one wants a doctor working with outdated information.
