A total of 43 new medical colleges have been established across India for the 2025–26 academic year, with the government approving 11,682 MBBS seats and 8,967 postgraduate seats, including those in AIIMS and other Institutes of National Importance. Sharing the details in Parliament, Minister of State for Health Anupriya Patel said the approvals aim to strengthen medical education capacity and improve access to healthcare professionals across the country. The new colleges are spread across multiple states, including Andhra Pradesh, Assam, Bihar, Gujarat, Haryana, Karnataka, Kerala, Madhya Pradesh, Maharashtra, Rajasthan, Tamil Nadu, Telangana, Uttar Pradesh and West Bengal.
