Among, IIT Delhi - Applied mechanics or IIT KGP - Thermal, he can make a 1st choice Then he can think for Design in IITH Kanpur But overall all 3 IITs and specialization, (as he is getting), are good from placement wise so he can go as per his interest on subjects, if he hv a much interest in design subjects he can go for Design, or else he can choose Thermal in respective IIT

Sir, he can close IITG for design, placement is very good also for further research, there will be good opportunity. As he said, he is interested in Design and applied mechanics , so among both IITG Design is the best option because, in applied mechanics , he will get the courses related to the kind of thermal Subjects. Additionally, In my opinion Thermal and Fluid, is another good option at IIT KGP for placement and research pov, he can think.

Sir, Both IIT Delhi industrial & IIT Madras design is good in terms of placement. But in industrial mostly non core jobs and design is for core jobs...rest he can wait for IIT Madras design depending upon his interest. But according to previous trend IIT Delhi design was available in later round but IIT Madras design got filled...so keep this in mind.
