Repost from ASHCHARYA BANSAL
Sir, these are my tips to aspirants preparing for BARC exam.
In this exam time is limited and most of the questions are lengthy to solve.
So, if one need to solve maximum number of problems then he/she need to select the problems which can be solved in less time.
They ask 100 questions in the time duration of 2 hours. Also they provide online virtual calculator to solve numericals (but quality of calculator is not good).
Also according to the level of paper cutoff fluctuates every year.
🔥How to handle written test ???
The syllabus of BARC is almost same as that of GATE syllabus.
There will not be any aptitude questions but you can expect few questions from Mathematics.
As they are more focussed on core fundamental subjects you need to cover the syllabus according to the priority given below...
1. SOM
2. FM and Heat Transfer
3. Thermo.
4. Production
5. Theory of machines
6. Mechanics
7. Applied thermodynamics
8. Mathematics
9. Machine Design
10. Industrial Engg.
👉From where to prepare??
Prepare from your notes that you prepared during GATE exam preparation.
👉For questions attempt GATE previous year.
👉GATE TEST SERIES
👉 Previous year GATE-XE papers.
Avoid to refer standard textbook during this first phase of preparation of test.
Studying from text book will help you when you will be selected for interview round.
All the best

Repost from ASHCHARYA BANSAL
Good Evening Sir,
I've appeared in the BARC interview(01-06-2023).
My interview was just after lunch. So when I entered there were 3 panel members and they started asking general questions like where am I from?
Why there is gap after BTech.? ...
And then other members came and they asked me to write subjects in short on top left corner of board.
*_Questions_*
*Thermodynamics* -
1. PV and TS diagram for ideal gas with practical examples.( With cross questioning in between)
What is the equation of the isentropic process. And how did it come?
*SOM*
1. Gave question on symmetric simply supported beam with two TSLs and asked procedure to design it( a lot of cross questioning related to the sfd BMD and slope diagrams)
Shear stress and bending stress distribution over the cross section (solid as well as hollow).
Why shear stress is zero at surface though point load is concentrated at top surface?
*Fluid Mechanics*
1. Gave two identical tanks one over the other. One completely filled and a hole at the bottom. Asked to draw height vs time graph of water in both the tanks.
2. If the tank is closed at the top and is accelerated in x-direction, maximum and minimum pressure in the tank. Then asked to arrange pressure magnitude at corner points in descending order.
3. If the same tank is rotated about the vertical axis instead of acceleration, the maximum and minimum pressure points.
*Heat Transfer*
1. Draw a pipe of infinite length and is maintained at 200°C and water entering at 30°C 1atm, draw temperature profile along length.
If pressure is increased to 5atm then again draw temperature profile on the same diagram to show the variation.
Temperature profile across the cross section if some thickness is also there.

BARC interview experience
Here I am sharing my BARC Interview Experience:-
Date-2 June, reporting time-11 am. After waiting approx 7 hr, my turn has come at 6pm for Interview (because my allotted number was 47 out of 52)
Interviewer: Write down your 4 favourite subjects?
Me: FM,HT,TD,SOM
#Q:1-
Interviewer: Draw centrifugal pump?
What is priming and why we do it?
What type of casing it is?
Me: spiral casing.
Interviewer: No, it has some specific name
Interviewer: Why this casing has diversing shape?
What is cavitation?
Me: while I am explainining, they asked- Will Bubble burst or something else?
What is bursting means?
Actually, they wanted to listen the word "Collapse instead of burst"
At what point cavitation happened?
What is npsh and its significance?
How do we purchase pump from market?
What is series/parallel connection in pump?
#Q-2:
A conical section(one side area A and other 2A) has fluid of press P, Are these two forces(PA and 2PA) on these cross sections balanced? If it is then how??
#Q-3
One container has the height of water h what will be the velo at the end.
What will be the time to empty this container?
Now if we use nozzle at the end then what will be the velo?
#Q-4
If a pipe is attached to the bottom of the container and if other opening will close by hand then water will leak from it at the bottom of the container But when we allow the water from the pipe then it will not leak. Why???
In puppete or burrete, water will not fall down when closed on one side by hand. Why?
#Q- 5
They made a diagram of two composite slabs made of concrete and steel and one side 100K water and other side 30K air.
Draw Temp profile?
Now if the K varies with temp then draw temp profile?
What is convection heat transfer.
#Q-6
Design of shaft running at N rpm with transverse load at mid point(assume simple support)
Which theory will be used and why?
Draw mohr circle for these two stresses(bending and shear).
Hanging Conical rod with load. Find elongation?
Q-7
One plant is near your home town
(actually it's thermal power plant)
On which cycle its working
Draw working cycle(rankine cycle)
Draw schematic diagram
What is efficiency
Me: 35-40%
They: Where 60 % loss? Show these losses on your diagram?
If we dont use condenser then what happened?
What is press of condenser and boiler and why condenser press is slightly above than atm press?
What type of boiler used in this power plant.
Q-8
How we lift 100 kg by 20 kg using rope and pulley?
Draw it's diagram?
BOTTOM LINE- Listen carefully their questions and explain clearly. They will try to confuse you.
Best of luck guys!

Respected sir🙏🏻
With your Guidance, support and motivation last month I joined as Gazetted Officer, lecturer in Government polytechnic College in Nuh District, Haryana.
After Completing my B. Tech in 2014 from a private college (Applied College of Management &Engineering ACME, Palwal, Haryana which is now closed) I joined made easy in year 2014-15 regular batch at Saket. I cleared GATE 2015 exam with 59 marks and got admission in M.Tech at Sant Longowal Institute of Engineering & Technology (SLIET) Longowal, Sangrur Punjab and completed M. Tech in 2017. After that I do teaching in private College for one year and left job and again get joined made easy in 2018 for ESE 2019 mains batch but unfortunately I donot get selected and again I joined as faculty in private College. It was a very long journey to achieve this part of success. I qualified following exams but not get selected
1. 2016-BARC written exam but failed in interview
2. 2019-UPSC Drug Inspector written exam cleared but failed in interview
3. 2019- ESE Prelims, mains cleared but not in the final list after interview
4. 2019- RRB JE Tier -I cleared but got given Tier-II (UPSC interview date and Tier-II exam clashes)
5. 2019- RRB NTPC (paper 1 cleared but failed in paper 2)
6. 2021-UPPSC polytechnic lecturer exam cleared but failed in interview
7. 2021- BPSC Assistant professor cleared but failed ib interview
8. 2022- SSC JE Prelims cleared ( not given mains as I got selected here)
9. GATE qualified from 2015, 2016, 2017, 2018, 2019 & 2022 ( with Maximum 63 marks in 2022)
I am sharing this information to motivate to all the aspirants who are fighting to achieve something big in their life. I got married in 2021 and now having a son of one year. I feel that it is their luck who brings laurels in my life. It take me almost 8 years to Finally got selected but I never stop preparation. Sometimes all things donot happens in a manner as we want them. It takes time to happens but we have to do our work with proper honesty and consistency.
In my case consistency is the main reason which I lack as I am preparing for exam while doing job thats why it take time to achieve this part of success so late but I donot have any regret because Finally I got selected for which I am preparing from many years. I am the First person in my family who got any kind of Government job.
At last I want to motivate all aspirants who feels depressed after facing rejections. Once you are honest in your work one day you will definately get success and never loose hope. Whenever I feel low I repeat this quote which make me stand again
""मंजिलें मिले न मिले, ये तो मुकद्दर की बात है,
हम कोशिश ही न करे, ये तो गलत बात है।""

Sir,
The Technical Officer interview is similar to the BARC OCES Training School selection interview, but candidates are directly appointed as Technical Officers without undergoing any training for one year.
For the Scientific Assistant interview, it's a bit easier than the OCES interview, especially since most candidates have a diploma background. However, preparation for the Technical Officer interview requires the same level of readiness as for the OCES interview.
There are two entry routes for Scientific Assistants: one involves a direct interview followed by posting, where experience and your favorite subject based on your diploma are key. The second route is through an exam, followed by an interview and then training under the CAT-2 scheme. In this process, they focus on your favorite subject in your diploma or degree, along with theoretical and practical knowledge. They also inquire about basics of physics from 11th and 12th grade.
