Japanese censorship cut all kissing scenes from Western films until the end of 1945. Actors in Japanese films, if they did kiss, only did so when portraying foreigners. After 1945, when Western customs spread in the country, it seemed like the time for kissing had finally arrived. The first scenes of kissing directly on the lips appeared in Japanese cinema. Newspapers widely debated whether it was hygienic and appropriate for Japanese culture. But for quite a long time after that, kissing scenes were filmed in such a way that it looked like the actors were not actually touching lips. If that was not possible, actors would kiss through a transparent cloth. Even today, it feels like kissing is not entirely a Japanese activity. 🇯🇵Japan

Kago (駕籠) The palanquin, or KAGO (kago), was a means of transport for aristocrats and others. It was also used in countries where women were not allowed to appear in public. They could not leave their homes without such a device. It was a type of litter in the form of a covered bed or chair on long poles, carried by bearers. Noble, wealthy families had large, richly decorated palanquins. 🇯🇵Japan

Japanese Paleolithic The Japanese Paleolithic is a period in Japan's history that began with the arrival of humans on the archipelago (no later than the 40th millennium BCE) and lasted until the appearance of Neolithic tools in the Jomon period (12th millennium BCE). From a geological perspective, the Japanese Paleolithic coincides with the Pleistocene and the Ice Age. For a significant part of this period, Japan was connected to the mainland by land bridges, and the Sea of Japan was an inland sea between what is now Japan, Manchuria, and Korea. The ancient population of Japan engaged in hunting and gathering, producing the first roughly made stone tools. Archaeologists have discovered one-handed tools such as spears, pikes, knives, and scrapers. The anthropological composition of Japan's population during this period remains unclear. This period lacks ceramic artifacts, which is why it is also referred to as the pre-ceramic culture period. 🇯🇵Japan
