Hi all! John Metcalfe, our wonderful GYO Anbassador, offers this helpful info with reference to our previous post! You can find his original comments in there. But for those who haven’t spotted it yet… 😃❤️😃 “Hello folks! I have just joined the group after many years not being on social media. As a seasoned grower I have noticed my seedlings this year are struggling. More cloud nucleation possibly caused by an increase in cosmic rays due to our magnetosphere waining, gsm, the Hunga Tonga-Hunga volcano erruption in 2022 with the added possibility of human cloud experimentation are all challenges we have to face. No matter where you are on the Earth there are climatic changes that are hindering growing. What can we all do? There are a few solutions that come to mind. Firstly germinate your seeds in a controlled environment, plant out later. Use greenhouses if possible. Focus on building buffers in your soil (this will help regulate temps, soak up more water when it’s very wet and release it in times of drought. Increase the plants ability to photosynthesise. Most plants are only operating at at most 25% of their capacity. In order for them to increase this then we need abundant elements in the soil the right biology to make the nutrients plant available, increase the electrical energy in the soil. This can all be done by applying amendments to your soil. Another solution is by creating micro climates through Earth works, placing plants in optimum areas and choosing plants that have a proven resilience to climatic changes (old heirloom varieties and indigenous species have an evolutionary advantage. Our ancestors dealt with these challenges and we have the advantage of their knowledge plus the groundbreaking science on plant health and biodiversity. Permaculture, biodynamics and regenerative soil practices all have solutions. People all over the world are coming up with solutions. Together we can create a pathway towards building resilient and abundant eco systems. That’s what I am working on this season and I will am creating a course at the end of this year to showcase the knowledge that will be vital in the coming years. Good fortune everyone 🌞 it’s in our DNA to survive and thrive and build communities of health and abundance.”

🌱🇬🇧 Calling all gardeners and nature enthusiasts! Let's dig into the diverse world of soil types right here in the UK. 🌍🌿 Here are some common soil types you'll find across the UK: 1️⃣ Clay Soil: Sticky and heavy, clay soil holds moisture well but can become waterlogged. It's rich in nutrients, but can be difficult to work with. Improve drainage by adding organic matter like compost or sand. 2️⃣ Sandy Soil: Light and well-draining, sandy soil warms up quickly in spring. However, it can be nutrient-poor and prone to drying out. Boost its fertility by incorporating organic matter and mulching. 3️⃣ Loam Soil: Considered the gardener's dream, loam soil is a perfect balance of clay, sand, and silt. It retains moisture, provides good drainage, and is rich in nutrients. Lucky are those with loamy soil! 4️⃣ Chalky Soil: Found in areas with chalk or limestone bedrock, this alkaline soil can be shallow and stony. It drains well but may lack certain nutrients. Add organic matter and choose plants that tolerate alkaline conditions. 5️⃣ Peat Soil: Common in wetland areas, peat soil is dark, acidic, and retains moisture. However, due to environmental concerns, it's important to use peat alternatives and support sustainable gardening practices. 6️⃣ Acidic Soil: Some areas, especially in the north and west, have naturally acidic soil. Rhododendrons and heathers thrive in this environment. Adjust the pH by adding lime for plants that prefer alkaline conditions. 7️⃣ Silt Soil: Fine and fertile, silt soil feels smooth and silky to the touch. It holds moisture well but can become compacted. Enhance its structure with organic matter and avoid excessive treading. Remember, understanding your soil type is key to successful gardening. Consider conducting a soil test to determine its pH and nutrient levels. This knowledge will guide your plant choices and help you tailor your gardening practices accordingly. 🌿🌷 Share your experiences and gardening tips for your specific soil type in the comments below! 🌱💚

Just to pop a note out to all the fabulous and well-meaning people leaning into common-law solutions and pointing out facts about ‘viruses’… we get it. We see your sound points. We thank you for your input. BUT, the vast, VAST majority of farmers are still fast asleep and don’t even realise what’s coming down the road. They have NO IDEA. We cannot make in-roads in protecting them or our food until they understand what’s happening. Guard The Gate is also to support EVERYONE reaching out to farmers and highlighting the dangers we see coming. We are producing fact sheets, written by vets, that can be shared with farmers and vets, and highlights the main concerns. We hope to have these available in the next few days. But we have to awaken them to reality first. THEN we can start explaining the next elements. It’s a process. It’s reality. You all know what it’s like trying to wake people up. Why should farmers be any different? You can’t overload people with info all at once. They need time to digest and process. If you have any suggestions that work with this reality then please do let us know! We are very open that we don’t have all the answers and it’s down to us all to work together to figure it out. Thanks so much for all your input and we hope this makes things clear on the current status. Have a wonderful weekend everyone!! Katherine xxx
