There is a big lie of many bulls, saying the whales are buying back, indicating that whales are buying at the current levels of 60k, and this is a very dangerous lie and an information deadly for any investor. Do they even understand how Long-Term Holders are defined?
A wallet only qualifies as a Long-Term Holder after holding its coins for 155+ days. Count back 155 days from today and you land around February 1, 2026. Since I’m not low IQ, I don’t just look at one day, I analyze the entire accumulation window.
Now ask yourself: where did Bitcoin trade throughout that period? Exactly. The average cost basis of those newly classified Long-Term Holders sits roughly in the $80k–90k range.
So when you hear “whales are buying,” make sure you know which whales they’re actually talking about. And those whales they are talking about just qualified as long term holders 155 days after their purchase, and their purchase was between 80-90k and the whales that are buying today will be reflected in 155 days on the on chain metric chart of a long term holder. Something important and why education is important.
There is another way, and it’s to track whale wallets but most of whales using different wallets and split the transactions on several wallets so we can’t clearly determine between long term and short term whale, however we can work on the information that if BTC reached an wallet and kept there for +155 days, it qualifies as long term investor and this is what the chart will reflect over then.
