FREEZE ONE LOGIN: We are calling for an immediate freeze on One Login pending independent review by the National Audit Office - meaning no further rollout or expansion until that review is complete and safeguards are in place

Government's OWN One Login terms say it can't guarantee the system will always be available, error-free - or "completely secure" No digital system can offer zero risk And that's exactly why people should NEVER be left dependent on one system to deal with government Digital routes need a genuine offline backup

NEW: One Login keeps evolving - but where is the proper scrutiny? Passkeys are now being rolled out to a reported 23 million GOV UK One Login users, following a 300,000-user trial. Passkeys are optional and should make individual accounts harder to hack or phish. If you use Face ID or a fingerprint to unlock a passkey, your biometric data is not shared with One Login - it stays with your device. On the face of it, that's a useful security improvement. But look at the bigger picture: One Login is already being used across 200+ government services and functions, with further expansion planned. Yet this increasingly important piece of national digital infrastructure has developed at extraordinary speed without anything like the Parliamentary scrutiny it deserves. And making individual accounts harder to phish doesn't answer serious questions about the security of One Login itself. Whistleblower reports have raised significant concerns, while independent security testing previously found that privileged access to the system could be compromised without detection. With millions of people being driven to use it, we need a freeze on One Login.
