Heidelberg Catechism Question 98 Q. But may not images be permitted in churches in place of books for the unlearned?

A. No, we should not try to be wiser than God. God wants the Christian community instructed by the living preaching of his Word1—not by idols that cannot even talk.2

While the Papacy maintains a profession of the incarnation of Christ, she denies it materially, in denying to Christ the fruit of His incarnation: a). His once-for-all sacrifice b). His continual intercession as Mediator c). His righteousness, which is imputed to those who believe in Him (plus nothing) which He earned, and procured in the days of His flesh d). In His unique office as the Judge of all the earth, as God-man. i). In all four of these incarnation-doctrines and issues, Christ is denied His work by the RCC, and another stands in His place to do what Christ does as God-Man. ii). It is in this way that John speaks of antichrist and his denial of the incarnation. - In John’s day, there was a formal denial, and in ours, there is a material denial in the RC Church, denying to Christ all of His work wrought as God-Man. e). And in His servant leadership, which by Rome is perverted to a lordly leadership, with divine powers. @calvinismmemes
