| 12 | But don't let someone else's difficult journey convince you that yours has already failed.
Finish what you started.
Learn properly.
Build your skills.
Become the pilot you would trust with your own life.
And when your time comes, be ready.
To the CPL holder who has been waiting for months:
Please don't call yourself a failure.
You are a pilot.
You earned that licence.
You faced the examinations, the pressure, the mistakes, the setbacks—and you kept going.
That matters.
Maybe today you are not sitting in an airline cockpit.
Maybe your uniform is hanging in your cupboard instead of on your back.
Maybe your family is under financial pressure.
Maybe you are struggling more than anyone knows.
But this is a chapter.
It is not your identity.
So please hold on.
Not blindly, and not by pretending everything is fine.
Acknowledge the pressure.
Acknowledge the fear.
Talk to someone when it becomes too heavy.
Make practical decisions.
Keep learning.
Keep looking for opportunities.
And keep moving, even if the movement is painfully slow.
There are thousands of us somewhere in this same sky—
waiting, preparing, struggling, hoping.
You are not the only one.
If today all you can do is take one more step—
take that step.
One application.
One interview.
One assessment.
One flight.
One day at a time.
Your wings are not useless because you haven't taken off yet.
Sometimes an aircraft spends a long time waiting at the holding point before receiving takeoff clearance.
That doesn't mean the flight has been cancelled.
Maybe you're just waiting for your clearance.
Keep your aircraft ready.
Keep your lights on.
Keep your engines running.
Your takeoff clearance may come when you least expect it.
To every trainee pilot, every CPL holder, every unemployed pilot, every son and daughter carrying the weight of their family's sacrifice:
I see you.
I respect your struggle.
And I sincerely hope that one day, all this waiting becomes the story you tell about how you finally reached the cockpit you dreamed about.
Until that day—
keep going.
The sky is still there.
And so is your dream.
Fellow Pilot❤️ | 4 370 |
| 13 | To Every Pilot Who Is Still Waiting
Dear fellow pilot,
I don't know your name.
I don't know where you did your flight training, how many hours you have in your logbook, or how many times you have sat in front of an interview panel hoping that this time would be different.
But I know something about you.
You had a dream.
And at some point, you decided that this dream was worth taking a risk for.
Maybe your parents spent their entire savings on your training.
Maybe your family took a huge loan.
Maybe a piece of land was sold.
Maybe your father borrowed money from relatives.
Maybe your mother quietly gave up things she wanted because your flying was considered more important.
Maybe ₹50 lakh, ₹60 lakh, ₹80 lakh—or more—is not just a number for your family.
It is someone's lifetime of savings.
Someone's retirement.
Someone's house.
Someone's land.
Years of sacrifice.
And then you completed your CPL.
You thought the difficult part was over.
You thought that once you had the licence in your hand, the next chapter would finally begin.
But instead, you entered another kind of waiting.
Applications.
Emails.
Tests.
Interviews.
Psychometric assessments.
Type ratings.
More applications.
More waiting.
And sometimes—
nothing.
Days turn into weeks.
Weeks turn into months.
People around you start asking,
"Kuch hua?"
"Job lagi?"
"Ab kya plan hai?"
You smile and say,
"Haan, dekhte hain."
But they don't see what happens after you walk back into your room.
They don't see you checking your email again, hoping for a call.
They don't see you looking at your logbook or calculating how long your savings will last.
They don't see you thinking about the loan.
And sometimes, most painfully, they don't see you wondering whether you still believe in yourself.
There are days when you see someone else getting selected and you are genuinely happy for them.
But somewhere inside, a small voice asks:
"When will it be my turn?"
You congratulate them, put your phone down, and sit quietly for a while.
Because you are happy for them.
But you are also tired of waiting for yourself.
And that doesn't make you jealous.
It makes you human.
You are carrying the weight of a dream that was never yours alone.
Your parents dreamed with you.
Your family sacrificed with you.
And every rejection can feel like you are disappointing everyone who believed in you.
But please remember:
Your current situation is not the final chapter of your story.
A CPL without a job today does not mean a pilot without a future tomorrow.
Being unemployed today does not erase the years of work it took to get here.
A rejection email does not invalidate your licence.
A failed assessment does not define your ability to fly.
You may not see the runway ahead right now.
You may only see darkness and uncertainty.
But sometimes, in aviation, the runway isn't visible until you're much closer to it.
So keep your aircraft under control.
Keep your skills alive.
Keep studying.
Keep applying.
Keep preparing.
Keep improving.
And most importantly—
keep yourself in the game.
Don't compare your timeline with someone else's.
Some people get their opportunity quickly.
Some wait.
Some instruct.
Some fly charter.
Some take a different job for a while.
Everyone has a different route.
And to the parents who may be reading this:
Your son or daughter may not tell you everything.
They may say they are fine, but the waiting itself can be exhausting.
Sometimes they don't need another question or comparison.
Sometimes they just need to hear:
"We know how hard you are trying. We are proud of you. Keep going."
And to the trainee pilot still in training—
I know you may be frightened when you see people waiting for jobs after their CPL.
You may wonder whether you will be one of them.
I cannot promise you when your opportunity will come. | 3 502 |
