It is becoming more common among neighbors to know little about each other. While this can be attributed to a lack of free time and language skills, teaching them the local language and organizing public events in the community can be a solution to this problem. The issue under discussion can be explained by a lack of free time at people’s disposal. Nowadays, people are leading a very hectic lifestyle as they are constantly on the way to their study place or workplace. This leaves very little time for them to spend with their family members or close friends, let alone with their neighbors. As a result, they tend to enjoy the company of their close people as much as they can in the privacy of their home. Take my country – Uzbekistan where parents are always busy at work while their children often study away from their hometown. This results in a little-to-none interaction with next-door neighbors. People living in a foreign country is another reason leading to this problem. Residents living in a country where local people speak in a different accent or even worse another language exacerbates the situation even further. The difference in the way people communicate or language barrier that people come across challenges them to interact with their neighbors within their comfort zone. However, there are several measures that can be taken to tackle this issue. Some public events, such as a barbecue dinner, a party or a welcome-home reception, can bring the members of the community closer. By doing so, those who have been living in the area for a long time can explain the values and cultural aspects of the community to people who have recently joined them. Moreover, language program targeted towards people who struggle with the communication with the local people can remedy the situation even further. It is widely known that those who do not speak the same accent or language tend to withdraw from other member of the community thinking that they are not welcomed warmly by the local people. If they are taught the language aspects of the local culture, this problem can solve the problem once and for all. In conclusion, a hectic lifestyle and challenges related to languages can be the reason why people are interacting less with their neighbors. Despite these problems, there are some actions that can be taken to overcome these difficulties.
