I’ve been watching a series called Broadchurch, and if you’re interested in British accents, British phrases, and the way people actually speak in the UK, I’d highly recommend it.
One thing I like about it is that you pick up real everyday expressions. For example:
🇬🇧 “Ring me back.”
instead of
🇺🇸 “Call me back.”
Another example is “a 99” 🍦
A 99 is a popular British ice cream cone with a Flake chocolate bar in it. So instead of saying:
“I’d like an ice cream, please.”
someone might simply say:
“I’d like a 99, please.”
If you’re learning British English or just want to get more familiar with British culture and the way people talk, it’s definitely worth a watch. 🇬🇧📺

Episode 19: Kung Fu Fighting Nick has an audition in the new Ricky Chung movie. Channel 9 is making cuts, and Bridget hopes to save her job by securing an interview with the gorgeous Ricky Chung, Kung Fu star. Nick gets the job, and Bridget becomes interested in oriental things. Annie is angry that Nick has auditioned for a violent film. When she meets Richard, however, she finds another gentle person who agrees with her peaceful approach to life. Nick's part in the film is not a glamorous one and he is soon in hospital. Everyone comes to visit him and Bridget is especially concerned about her interview with Ricky. Ricky also comes to visit, and it is revealed that Richard and Ricky are the same person. Bridget is delighted, as she can now interview a Kung Fu star who is against violence!
