IS S*X DURING FASTING ALLOWED BIBLICALLY? – Apostle Arome Osayi’s Perspective Beloved, let me speak plainly and with the fear of the Lord: when you embark on fasting, especially the kind that is extended or daily (like the 6 PM to 6 PM fast you can sustain even for a year), the question often arises among married people: “Can we still come together as husband and wife during this time?” I want to give you clear, scriptural, and practical guidance so that you do not fall into error or defraud one another. The Scripture is very explicit on this matter. In 1 Corinthians 7:5, the Apostle Paul writes: “Do not deprive one another except with consent for a time, that you may give yourselves to fasting and prayer; and come together again so that Satan does not tempt you because of your lack of self-control.” Notice the wording carefully: “except with consent for a time.” Fasting is that “time” of mutual agreement to set aside certain pleasures for spiritual pursuit. But it is not a time to permanently withhold yourselves from each other. The purpose is spiritual alignment, not marital starvation. If you use fasting as an excuse to defraud your spouse, you are walking in disobedience. Now, listen to me: for the kind of fasting I have taught—where you break the fast every evening with one meal—the intimacy between husband and wife does not affect your spiritual alignment. It does not weaken your consecration. In fact, beloved, it often adds strength—both to your body and to your union. When you come together in love and mutual respect, it can actually refresh you and help you carry the fast with greater grace. The marital bed is honorable (Hebrews 13:4), and God designed it to be a place of blessing, not a place of guilt during seasons of prayer. But hear this also: everything must be done with mutual consent and understanding. Do not force or manipulate your spouse. If your wife or husband is not comfortable, or if the fast is calling for deeper consecration in a particular season, then agree together to abstain for that short period. The key is agreement—not unilateral decision. Do not say, “I am fasting, so you must suffer.” That is not the spirit of Christ. That is fleshly pride. So, to the married brothers and sisters: yes, you can engage in marital intimacy during your daily broken fast. It is permitted. It is even beneficial when done in love. Just make sure it does not become a distraction from your prayer and the Word. Keep your focus on seeking the face of God. But do not turn fasting into an occasion to defraud your spouse—that opens the door for temptation, and the enemy is always looking for such loopholes. May the Lord give you understanding. May He grant you wisdom to balance the demands of the spirit and the responsibilities of the marriage covenant. Walk in love, walk in agreement, and let your fasting bring you both closer to God and to each other. Grace and peace be multiplied to you.

When I say I don’t rate the richest men in Africa and India that much, I am not being arrogant, and I am not ignorant of numbers. I am speaking from the standpoint of spiritual intelligence. In the realm of the spirit, wealth is never accidental. Money does not first respond to education. Money does not first respond to hard work. Money responds to spiritual authorization. “The silver is Mine, and the gold is Mine, says the LORD of hosts” (Haggai 2:8). Yet we see men who do not know God controlling terrifying volumes of wealth. How? Because the world is not run by morals. The world is run by systems. And every system has a spirit. Africa and India are not poor lands. They are ancient lands. Long before banks and corporations, there were shrines, covenants, blood sacrifices, and territorial altars. When a man aligns—knowingly or unknowingly—resources respond. Influence responds. Expansion responds. That is why some people rise with frightening speed. It is not intelligence alone. It is not strategy alone. There is backing. Jesus revealed this reality clearly. When Satan showed Him the kingdoms of the world, he said, “All these things I will give You, if You will bow down and worship me” (Matthew 4:9). Jesus did not argue ownership; He refused the altar. That altar is still operational today. This is why many Christians are not among the world’s richest people—not because believers are lazy, and not because God hates prosperity, but because they refuse to bow. “You cannot serve God and mammon” (Matthew 6:24). Mammon is not money. Mammon is a spirit that empowers wealth outside God. It gives speed but demands worship. It gives access but takes eternity. It builds empires but empties souls. Moses stood before the wealth of Egypt and chose alignment over abundance. “He chose rather to suffer affliction with the people of God than to enjoy the pleasures of sin for a season” (Hebrews 11:25). Egypt had gold, but Egypt also had gods. God does not compete with altars. God does not share glory. God does not sponsor systems that will eventually deny Him. “The blessing of the LORD makes rich, and He adds no sorrow with it” (Proverbs 10:22). Many riches celebrated today come with sorrow—fear, compromise, broken homes, blood on unseen altars, and eternal loss. So when I see wealth without God, I am not impressed. When I see billions without alignment, I am not moved. Because I know what is backing it. Jesus asked the final question: “What shall it profit a man if he gains the whole world and loses his soul?” (Mark 8:36). Beloved, seek the Kingdom. Seek alignment. Seek righteousness. Because what God builds may be slower, but it is eternal 🔥
