Back then 3 Para (SF) was a Para (Regular/Reg) unit and was organized like a regular para unit. Before being a Para unit, 3 Para was a regular infantry unit from Kumaon regiment, hence post conversion to Parachute Regiment, 3 Para was also known as 3 Para (Kumaon). 3 para was converted to SF in early 2000s by Col. BS Sambyal (later Brigadier, originally from 9 Para SF)

Got this from FOG's (fwd observations group) instagram. A lot of you tough nuts need to hear about this. Basics should be mastered first, Crye Precision JPC 2.0s and Spiritus Systems Pouches can wait. Given the Indian context, yes we have a lot of ground to cover in terms of kit and clothing but the point still stands.
