To The Member Secretary West Bengal Police Recruitment Board Araksha Bhawan (5th Floor) Block – DJ, Sector – II, Salt Lake City, Kolkata – 700091 Respected Sir, I would like to submit my representation within the timeline notified by the Board regarding the discrepancies found in the recently conducted examination. Issue – 1: Wrong Questions in Nepali Version (Q.41 & Q.43) During the application process, candidates were allowed to choose the examination language as Bengali or Nepali. The exam was conducted in two languages—first the Bengali version, followed by the Nepali translation underneath. However, Question Nos. 41 and 43 in the Nepali version contained errors, and in the answer key it was stated that: “Candidates who opted for Nepali language will be awarded full marks for these two questions even if not attempted.” This creates a serious inequality because: 1. Both Bengali and Nepali candidates attempted the same exam; only the translation differed. 2. Awarding 2 marks exclusively to Nepali-medium candidates creates an unfair advantage in a highly competitive recruitment where the merit list depends solely on this single exam. 3. These 2 marks can significantly change ranking, cut-off, and final merit position. Therefore, we request the Board to kindly ensure complete fairness by awarding equal marks to all candidates, irrespective of the chosen language, because the error in the translated version is an organisational fault; no candidate should suffer or lose rank due to this translation mistake. This aligns with the principles of natural justice and avoids discrimination between Bengali-medium and Nepali-medium candidates. Issue – 2: Multiple Correct Answers & Wrong Key During answer-key verification, the following discrepancies were identified: (A) Questions with Multiple Correct Options: Q.1, 23, 24, 63 In these questions, the Board’s option is correct, but other options are also correct based on factual sources and standard references. Therefore, candidates who selected any of the correct options must be awarded marks for these questions. (B) Completely Incorrect Answer Key: Q.25 The answer published by the Board is incorrect and needs correction. Detailed justification supporting the correct answer is included in the attached PDF. In light of the above, I respectfully request the WBPRB to: 1. Award 2 marks for Q.41 & Q.43 to all candidates, regardless of the chosen language. 2. Provide full marks for multiple-correct options in the questions mentioned (Q.1, 23, 24, 63). 3. Correct the error in Q.25 as mentioned in the attachment. 4. Ensure transparency and fairness so that no candidate is deprived due to translation mistakes or answer-key discrepancies.
