| 11 | NON LIFE INSURANCE
Non life insurance sector has seen one of the most volatile years in its trading history. due to non life sector being highly exposed to catastrophic events, any big scale damage and destruction bring the non life sector to major losses due to higher claims.
This was clearly observed during the genz protest where it is stated that a massive claim of almost 15 billion (estimated) had to be paid by the non life insurance. although much of it will be paid in various segments throughout the years. but without even being able to recover from that event, Nepal has been struck by another catastrophic event of Rasuwa flood. which has already estimated a new claim of over 13 billion (recent sources).
If you check out our previous analysis, you can see that we had assigned a bullish perspective even after the genz protest, because the fiscal budget and policy addressed non life insurance sector positively. which showed the potential for non life companies to increase its business. but due to major catastrophic events one after another, the sector is most likely to observe a bit of slow down and out of watchlist from investors.
Therefore we are assigning a bearish bias on the Non life stocks for now. check out our Analytical perspective on some of the non life insurance companies. | 246 |
