Australian Broadcasting Corporation: Rhodesia 1976 This documentary was made for the Australian public broadcaster the ABC, for a program called Four Corners (a current affairs program). It was interesting that the interviewer managed to get an interview with Ian Smith (Rhodesia's Prime Minister). There was some interesting interviews in this piece. There was the interview with black member of the Rhodesian parliament. He said that he wanted equal rule, but didn't want to acknowledge the fact that if the whites left the country Rhodesia would be worse off. The other telling part was the interview towards the end at the cricket club. There was a South African national talking about the situation in Rhodesia. The South African was, with the benefit of hindsight, correct when he said that he thought Rhodesia would last about 2 more years without any external help. The Rhodesians there at the cricket club didn't seem to accept this and almost took that assessment as an insult.
