🇬🇪 Georgian liberal pro-EU protesters broke through the metal fence installed outside the Georgian Parliament after the Georgian legislature voted for the third time in favor of the "foreign agents bill". The bill now has to be promulgated by the pro-EU president, Salome Zourabichvili, which can reject to sign the bill, but her rejection can be overridden by a simple majority, which the ruling Georgian Dream has. The "foreign agents bill" will require all organisations that receive more than 20% of their funding from another country to register as "organizations serving the interests of a foreign power", a label which will see hundreds of EU and American NGOs and media organisation face possible bans and other sanctions from the Georgian state. The EPP-S&D-Greens-RE coalition in the European Parliament has sent a letter to Josep Borrell, the EU's High Representative for Foreign Affairs, announcing their intention to sanction the Georgian government and every MP that voted in favor of the law.
