Stand strong, Ireland!

It is easy to be cynical. It is easy to laugh. It is much harder to embrace something without laughing at it or restraining yourself. We laugh when something is uncomfortable. What is extremely uncomfortable is embracing what you do not understand. Yesterday, we spilled mead for Wotan. We chanted for Wotan. We burned offerings for Wotan. To the world it may have sounded silly. It may have looked silly. We embraced it anyway. If you will believe in true faith that you are worshipping a God it will not feel silly. Sincerity is the transformative act. In that chanting and wailing and growling of many voices I fell into a trance unlike anything I have ever experienced. One minute we were around the fire. The next the wooden sunwheel we made and the offerings were burning brightly. Then the ashes, shouting, wailing, drumming. The sky itself seemed to glow. Then it was over, and I struggled dimly back to the land of the living, panting and crying. I cannot remember what happened in those moments. Speeches were made yet I do not know what was said. I do not want or need to remember. I remember the divine presence. I remember the strength I had which I do not have alone. I carried my son in my arms the entire time, and yet he felt weightless. I felt no pain. I did not know where I was for a time, or how long we were there. It must have been quite a while. It felt like moments. In those moments Wotan was with us.

To classify everyone else as indigenous while ignoring the thousands of years that that my lineage dwelled upon the rainy Isles of North Western Europe highlights your insidious intent to dehumanize my people.
