I don’t judge you, as I know you are a victim. You have been efficiently conditioned, the result of which has left you stripped bare of self-confidence, dignity, power and compassion. Your only strength is to attack those unwilling to join you in obedience. It’s okay - I don’t feel mad - I feel sad for you. I will allow you to direct your fear at me and I will accept it, because the battle I am fighting is for you as well as me. It’s for your children and grandchildren, as well as mine. You and I both had a choice to make, and I decided to fight for freedom. You submitted instantly, and attempted to shame, intimidate and coerce me into the same, becoming outraged at my independence and my belief in “my body, my choice”. You disagree with my striving for a fair and just society, free from fraud and deception. You call me a “fascist” for arguing against government overreach. Do you see this irony? While you continue to angrily comply, to follow those who have continuously lied to you, I will continue to push back. I will continue to value my autonomy and I will use my strength to free us both from the path you are blindly walking down. One day you will see how much your compliance almost cost us, and hopefully you will see that I was never your enemy. I look forward to this day, and I will celebrate it with you. FTA: I am a physician and mother of four children, two of whom attend public elementary school in northern Virginia. Our state’s newly inaugurated governor recently issued an executive order giving parents the choice of whether or not their children wear masks to school. But instead of complying, several districts including mine are suing the state to keep mask mandates in place. I believe it is time to follow the science and give parents the choice when it comes to masking in schools. This isn’t necessarily a popular opinion to express around here. After the governor issued his order, multiple members of a local mothers’ group I belong to passionately equated his action to large scale homicide in a frenzy of emotional emails. Despite the peril of going against the grain, I took a leap and hit “reply all,” calmly expressing my belief, supported by scientific evidence, that schools abide by the new executive order and transition to optional masking. I was fully prepared to have an inbox overflowing with hate mail. Instead, I received a multitude of private messages of support thanking me for being brave, presenting an alternative view and bringing scientific evidence to counter the usual echo chamber of fear mongering. Based on this response, I conclude that many parents agree with me but are afraid to speak up. Indeed, frustration with COVID-19 restrictions and school closures was cited as a major reason Gov. BREAKING: A federal judge in Florida has granted a temporary restraining order to two service members facing disciplinary action after the military denied their appeals for religious accommodation from the COVID vaccine. Judge Steven Merryday ruled that the service members would likely prevail on the merits of the case, stating that the respective branches of the military have "wrongfully denied" their religious exemptions. The judge also ruled that unless the military presents better legal defense than it has thus far, the court is likely to rule the same way and expand his order. A hearing has been set for February 10.
