The journalists were summoned to testify under oath after they reported alleged security concerns involving the new plane.
Federal agents delivered subpoenas to some reporters' homes, demanding they appear before a federal grand jury investigating a potential crime.
Whoa.
We need to remember the historical parallel. During the Civil War, President Abraham Lincoln’s administration took extraordinary actions against parts of the press, including the arrest or detention of some newspaper editors and publishers accused of undermining the Union war effort or publishing information viewed as harmful to national security.
