Venice and the Founding Fathers - The Forgotten Blueprint for Early America (and Why It Matters Today) A largely forgotten dialogue existed between the early United States and the Venetian Republic. We will explore why and how the Founding Fathers looked across the Atlantic for Venice as an example of a stable and long-lived republic. The similarities extend to the present-day, and can inform the policy of both regions. Both republics balanced power through layered councils and restraints on elite ambition, and limited the vote to those who had most stakes in the decision of its executive. In both, a tradition of armed citizenry was essential to local defense and even encouraged by the government. Finally, both treated commerce as a strategic domain, implementing tariffs and trade laws designed to protect their local industries. Franklin, Adams, and Jefferson courted Venice as soon as independence was declared, contacting Venetian ambassadors in the main European capitals, who in turn asked the Senate of the Serenìsima for guidance. In 1784, the trio even proposed a Treaty of Amity and Commerce - that apparently received no reply. The Venetian Republic featured prominently in the Federalist and in Adams’s Defence of the Constitutions. The Founders mined its institutions for lessons, but adapted it to their context - multiplying its veto points, putting law above rank and office, and widening the franchise beyond birth. The syllabi of Harvard and William & Mary's recommended works from Venetian political theorists, ensuring that the new generation of American statesmen internalized the Venetian lessons. After 1800, their paths diverged: while Napoleon erased the Serenìsima, the US would expand and evolve. Soon, both would confront centralizing powers - Rome over Venetia, and the federal system over a South that clung to the confederal ideals of the Founders until it was subsumed after the Civil War. Industrial shocks, wars of subjugation, and forced integration would breed tensions between periphery and center that parallel the long Venetian fight for self-determination and autonomy. Today, both Venetia and the American Heartland have become examples of how real wealth flows from productive interiors to extractive political centers. These regions are net contributors to their national budgets, thanks to dense webs of manufacturing-oriented SMEs that are supported by local chambers of commerce, farm co-ops, and local-level public works rather than by finance or tourism like their capitals. Yet these productive hinterlands - now more and more heartlands in their own right - still see their surpluses finance distant capitals while they struggle for self-determination. Both Venetia and the American Heartland represent the kind of republican, self-reliant ethos of the old Venetian Republic and early United States respectively. The fall of Venice in 1797 severed a budding bond with the young US, a promise of friendship and cooperation embodied in the 1784 letter. Today, after a 200-year hiatus, we want to restart and chronicle this dialogue - going beyond the limits imposed by old paradigms. I know how Americans in Ukraine are going to celebrate the 4th of July: by killing anti-White asiatic communists. Cheers to that 🍺

This is the flag I want to fly for the 4th. This is our “one struggle.”

As far as I can see from everyone’s comments, the consensus seems to be that there are very few — maybe just a couple — rightwing political parties in Europe that support Ukraine, and that these few political parties are more explicitly NS than conservative. https://t.me/hapaperspective/17079

It’s important to point out that the majority of these people with no inner monologue are non-White. Sure, it seems like most Whites are NPCs/normies that are too easily influenced by establishment propaganda, but at least they do still have an inner monologue to some degree, albeit a weaker one. Whereas most all non-Whites have no inner monologue whatsoever — they have zero capacity to think about their own thoughts or question much of anything. Most black and brown people just follow their ego and their impulses without a shred of reflection or consideration of their impact on the world around them.

Because he is an anti-white Third Worlder. Ukraine and Palestine are litmus tests for one's civilizational belonging, and really one's decency. For decent Europeans, Ukraine is central to their identity; not Palestine or anything else. For Middle-Easterners, other non-whites and anti-white leftists, it is Palestine.

Are there any conservative/rightwing parties in Europe (outside of Ukraine) that support Ukraine?

I think at this point we can safely say that the dissident right is nothing more than Russo-Chinese influence ops, criminal apologism and thinly veiled authoritarian fantasies. They're all civilisational traitors and deserve prison or worse.
