Just some observations and realisations I've had on the protest movement as a whole. As someone who has been a professional creative a lot longer than I've been part of any protest movement. Today I went along to a Low Emission Zone protest and the atmosphere was flat and lifeless. Maybe it was just me? I had been temporarily silenced on the FB group for mentioning that I could print some colour stickers of my recent (relevant) design that people could buy if they wanted. I later asked an admin if I would be able to direct people to where they could buy them - if they wanted - and was told, as per group rules I am not allowed. Which is fair enough, but then also, how about, fuck off. It's a sticker and it will spread the word. I am not making profit, just covering my costs. And that brings me round to how I'm feeling. I'm tired of gate-keepers. Especially gate-keepers that have no discernible talent or skills beyond stroking their own ego. After all that today I think I did the right thing majorly stepping back in all ways, but especially when it comes to being at these things physically. There are too many egos at protests, especially at the organisation end. To many circular arguments, people that love fear porn and all the rest. And let's not even mention the same regurgitated speeches from the SAME people - "resist, defy, do not comply". I belong behind the scenes and away from it all. - OG
