What is your plan?
Bad programmer: code, code, code, code
Good programmer: think, ask, think, ask, code
Programmers have two options:
1. Read the documentation and finish the task in 10 minutes.
2. Do trial and error and finish the task in 1 hour.
Most programmers choose the second option.
I have spent 12+ years in software development.
And, Over 18,000+ hours of programming.
Here are 5 important things I have learned.
1. Don't chase perfection, You will learn along with the journey
Learning programming is a never-ending journey.
The Software Development field is very dynamic, There are 100s of new things launched daily, You can't be perfect in technology.
What you can do is learn core principles and apply those to learn new things that will require your work.
2. Always learn new technologies and tools to boost your motivation
By learning and working on the same thing, programmers get bored.
To stay motivated, learn new technologies, new skills, and new tools, and build new projects.
3. Think about how users think
Your software is used by 1000s of users, We build software for users.
It is our most important task to know about users like what they want, how they use, and how they think.
If you learn to do this you won in the software development field.
4. Don't code to earn money, Code to contribute to society.
I have seen many people come into the IT field to earn hefty packages.
If you focus on money, you will not enjoy programming.
If you want to enjoy programming and want to succeed in software development, build for people.
5. Don't focus on technology, focus on logic
Technologies are just tools to solve real-world business problems.
Technologies are selected by business owners and project stakeholders to solve business problems as per the project budget, time to build, and feasibility.
If your logic is strong, You can learn any technology in 1-2 months.

Don't assess a programmer by his experience.
Assess him by what he built.
