Ibn al-Jawzī رحمه الله said:
How would you feel after being resurrected from your grave when you see some people rescued and not you?
And righteous people are
walking fast on the sirat (a
bridge over hellfire) and you
are tripping and falling?.
[Captured Thoughts | Pg. 691]| 2 | Mālik ibn Dīnār (رحمه الله) said:
«رَحِمَ اللَّهُ عَبْدًا قَالَ لِنَفْسِهِ: أَلَسْتِ صَاحِبَةَ كَذَا؟ أَلَسْتِ صَاحِبَةَ كَذَا؟ ثُمَّ ذَمَّهَا، ثُمَّ خَطَمَهَا، ثُمَّ أَلْزَمَهَا كِتَابَ اللَّهِ تَعَالَى، فَكَانَ لَهَا قَائِدًا»
May Allah have mercy on a servant who says to his own soul:
‘Are you not the one who did such-and-such?
Are you not the one who did such-and-such?’
Then he rebukes it, restrains it, and binds it to the Book of Allah, the Exalted, making it its guide.
Iʿtilāl al-Qulūb: 28 | 38 |
| 3 | Abu Hurayrah (رضي الله عنه) said:
«أول ما يرفع من هذه الأمة الحياء والأمانة، فاسألوهما الله.»
The first things to be lifted from this Ummah are modesty and trustworthiness. So ask Allah for them.
Makārim al-Akhlāq: 178 | 34 |
| 4 | Near the beginning of surah al-Baqarah [02], Allah calls out to the people by saying:
[يَا أَيُّهَا النَّاسُ اعْبُدُوا رَبَّكُمُ]
O mankind, worship your Lord.
Sheikh Salih al-Fawzan said:
Tawheed is the most important thing we have been commanded to implement, for Allah began with it for the first call found in the mushaf.

| 5 | True richness is in relying on Allāh, and true reliance is being in constant need of Him. Zayd ibn Aslam (d.136H) said:
استعن بالله يغنك الله عماسواه
ولا يكونن أحد أغنى بالله منك
ولا يكونن أحد أفقر إلى الله منك
Seek help from Allāh, and He shall suffice you from needing anyone else. Let none be richer in depending upon Allāh than you, And let none be more in need of Allāh than you.

| 7 | Mālik ibn Dīnār (رحمه الله) said:
«مَنْ لَمْ يُؤْتَ مِنْ الْعِلْمِ مَا يَقْمَعُهُ، فَمَا أُوتِيَ مِنْهُ لَا يَنْفَعُهُ»
Whoever has not been given knowledge that restrains and disciplines him, then whatever knowledge he has been given will not benefit him.
Ḥilyat al-Awliyā’ (9/123) | 43 |
| 8 | Ibn al-Jawzi said:
I swear by Allah, if a thinking believer were to recite
-surah al-Hadeed,
-the end of surah al-Hashr,
-Ayah al-Kursi, and
-surah al-Ikhlas
with reflection and contemplation, his heart would surely crack open out of fear of Allah and he would be shaken to his very core by Allah's greatness.

| 9 | Al-Fudayl ibn ‘Iyad (رحمه الله):
طُوبى لِمن اسْتَوْحش من النّاس، وكانَ الله
أنِيسهُ، وبكى على خطِيئتِهِ.
Glad tidings to the one who feels estranged from the people, and Allah becomes his companion, and he weeps over his sin.
[Hilyat al-Awliya’ (108/8)] | 41 |
| 10 | Al-Hasan al-Baṣrī رحمه الله said:
إذا كثرت ذنوب العبد فلم يكن في عمله ما يكفرها سُلِّط عليه الغموم فتكون كفارةً لذنوبه.
If a servant’s sins become numerous and he has no deeds that will expiate them,
Allah afflicts him with worries and grief, making them an expiation for his sins.
Ahsan al-Ṣāliḥīn (2957) | 37 |
| 11 | Sheikh Rabee bin Hadi رحمه الله said,
Those who boast about their deeds are destined for ruin we seek refuge in Allah from such.
[Marhaban Ya Talib ul Ilm Pg. 48] | 33 |
| 12 | Ahmad ibn Hanbal (رحمه الله) used to say:
«اللَّهُمَّ لَا تُمْتِنَا خَيْرَ مَا عِنْدَكَ بِشَرِّ مَا عِنْدَنَا»
O Allah, do not deprive us of the good that is with You because of the evil that is with us.
Tabaqāt al-Hanābilah (1/205) | 32 |
| 13 | No one lives without sacrifice. The real question is for whom will you tire out?
Ibn al-Qayyim said:
من رغب عن التعب لله؛
ابتُلي بالتعب في خدمة الخلق ولا بدّ
Whoever does not tire himself for the sake of Allāh will undoubtedly be tried with fatigue in the service of (others in) creation.

| 14 |  Ibn al-Jawzi’s (رحمه الله) question still awaits an answer:
Do you wish to enter Paradise by doing the deeds of the people of Hell? | 31 |
| 15 | THE SERVANT IS TESTED WITH OTHERS
As for wealth and poverty, these are trials that ALLĀH decrees for a reason, as HE says:
وَجَعَلۡنَا بَعۡضَكُمۡ لِبَعۡضٍ فِتۡنَةً
WE have made some of you as a trial for others
The Messenger ﷺ is a trial for those to whom he is sent, a test to see who will obey and who will disobey, and We test the Messengers by giving them the mission of calling people. The rich man is a trial for the poor man, and the poor man is a trial for the rich man - and so on, with all types of people in this world, which is the realm of trials and tests. The purpose of that test is to see:
أَتَصۡبِرُونَۗ
Will you have patience?
And do what you are supposed to do, in which case your Lord will reward you, or will you fail to be patient and thus deserve the punishment?
{Tafsir As-Sa'di} | 35 |

That's all it takes for Allah | 36 |
| 17 |  "Your provision (rizq) is coming to you, even if you were tied up with ropes." | 43 |
| 18 | "When you supplicate to Allah, does it befit the status of supplication to be accompanied by tunes/melodies?
How do we raise our hands to Allah seeking His mercy and answer, then disobey Him in what He has forbidden for us?
We seek His pleasure through supplication, so how can we be content with disobeying Him at the same time?
Allah is independent of us, and we are the needy towards Him; so do not make supplication accompanied by what Allah has forbidden, and fear the One whose mercy you hope for.
Exalt the One you supplicate to, for He, glorified be He, is not in need of you; rather, you are the ones who cannot do without Him." | 58 |
| 19 | إذا قال الغرب: «لسنا أعداء للإسلام»؛ فإما أنهم يكذبون، أو لسنا على الإسلام الصحيح.
﴿وَلَن تَرْضَىٰ عَنكَ الْيَهُودُ وَلَا النَّصَارَىٰ حَتَّىٰ تَتَّبِعَ مِلَّتَهُمْ﴾
(الشيخ عبد العزيز الطريفي)
"If the West says: 'We are not enemies of Islam,' then either they are lying, or we are not practicing true Islam."
Allah says :"And never will the Jews or the Christians approve of you until you follow their religion."
(Quran 2:120)

| 20 | قال ابن تيمية رحمه الله:
"لا يحل لأحد أن يقنط من رحمة الله ولو عظمت ذنوبه"
(الفتاوى 16/19)
#Shaykh_ul_Islām_Ibn_Taymiyyah رحمه الله said:
"It is not permissible for anyone to despair of Allah's mercy, no matter how great their sins may be."
