Optical network used to transport high capacity
You may see optical network as Terrestrial and as subsea
In this picture Iam trying to show you simple point to point wdm optical network connecting 2 sides through subsea
First part is the POP : point of presence
It represents the site where we could install the Transponders which connected to end client devices
Second part is the CLS : cable landing station where the subsea cable brought up on ground
3rd part is the wet planet and it represents the components ans devices should be installed the sea . For example repeaters
Note that repeaters are inline amplifiers and i will explain it later in a post
4th part is PFE : power feed equipment which provides electrical power to the devices under sea like the amplifiers
SLTE : submarine line terminal equipment
