🌿 To All My Warriors – A Night Before Prelims 🌿 My dear students, Tomorrow is not just a test of what you’ve studied… but how well you carry yourself in those two hours. Some will walk in with half the knowledge but twice the calm—and they will outshine those who let panic win. Prelims, strangely enough, is never just about effort. It’s about performance—right there, in that moment. And if you want to crack it, don’t walk in with the weight of one year on your back. Walk in with the lightness of someone who trusts their preparation. You’ve done enough. You are enough. This exam may feel like life and death. But it is not life. It’s just an exam. And trust me when I say—a calm, composed, and focused mind is the most powerful weapon you carry into that hall. So tonight, unburden yourself. Let go of the fear. Silence the chaos. Let your mind breathe. That’s how it will recall. That’s how you’ll win. So as you complete and recheck your checklist (recheck checklist- Pun totally intended :p) , remember—you’ve already conquered the hardest part: you showed up. You stayed. You fought. Now just go and perform. No baggage. No fear. Only faith. All the best—do it for yourself, and do it like you’ve already made it. You are more than this exam. But tomorrow, give it your everything anyway. 🌸 — With love, belief, and pride in you Your mentor, your biggest supporter

(Sorry for the long read. But I had to cover this in detail especially for those students for whom current affairs seem like a nightmare.) CURRENT AFFAIRS SOURCE DILEMMA Here's my take: You should follow Only One Current Affairs Source(in addition to the newspaper, of course). It can be a monthly magazine of any coaching institute or the yearly compilations like PT365. You need not do both monthly magazines and yearly compilations. Also, you don't need to refer to multiple magazines from different institutes for the same month. There will always be some differences in magazines offered by different institutions. Some might cover different topics and others may completely miss out on certain ones. But do not let the FOMO misguide you into believing that the more magazines you cover, the more comprehensive your Current Affairs preparation becomes. IT WILL NOT BE BENEFICIAL. The cost-benefit ratio of doing Current Affairs from multiple sources is very very low. On top of that, many students do not actually know how to study magazines effectively. They end up reading the same content over and over again without highlighting the important portions and then worry that they cannot remember things correctly. (I will talk about how to read magazines the right way in a different post). My advice: Always stick to one source- PT or monthly magazines from any one institute you prefer. I have always referred to Monthly Vision Magazines so I would go with that. Another major dilemma that makes students question their approach arises when the following situation occurs. You need to know that most institutions that sell their own test series often frame questions based on their own current affairs magazine. Suppose you follow magazine of Coaching A. If you solve the test series provided by the same Coaching A, the current affairs questions will be familiar to you. But when you solve test series of Coaching B, chances are that you will face current affairs questions that are differ from what you have read. At this moment, you are likely to get inclined towards covering magazines from other institutions as well. Do not do that. Continue with your original source. Make notes of any additional topic you find in different Test Series. In the entire preparation process, one thing you must keep in mind is that you should stick to minimum number of high-quality resources. You don't need multiple sources read just once, but a single source read multiple times. Of course there's a caveat: the source must have good credibility. Most people follow Vision magazines so I followed that. A major question that might have arisen in your mind is: when Current Affairs magazine have very low ROI, why follow them at all? It's true that most current affairs questions in Prelims do not come from any monthly magazine. But you should never ignore them based on this pretext. Most people who clear Prelims are able to directly/indirectly solve such questions using the knowledge they gain from the magazines. Do not get carried away with the propaganda that magazines serve no purpose. They do. Magazines help a lot, especially in Prelims. But you need to do it effectively and efficiently. Don't need to spend days and nights covering it. (In upcoming posts, I will cover some common mistakes students make while reading magazines ) ~PRASHANT GUPTA React to this post if you have read so far and my suggestions gave you any clarity. 📎 Stay Updated : @upscandbeyondd

🚨 DAY 21: 30 DAYS ETHICS ENRICHMENT SERIES 📚 Topic: Slippery Slope 📖 Meaning: The Slippery Slope argument can be explored in various ethical dilemmas or situations, particularly when a small unethical action, if unchecked, could lead to a gradual erosion of moral standards, integrity, or values. 📖 Key aspects: 1. Decision-making and Ethical Choices: The small initial action, seen as harmless, can gradually lead to bigger ethical compromises, diminishing integrity and professionalism in the long run. 2. Impact on Governance and Public Trust: The idea is that the acceptance of small wrongdoings can lead to an escalating series of unethical actions, eventually causing systemic corruption. 3. Rule of Law and Accountability: There would be undermining of the rule of law, as authorities might continue to make exceptions or overlook violations, weakening the moral fabric of legal processes. 4. Governance in Crisis Situations: An initial compromise in the name of efficiency during a crisis could lead to the erosion of fundamental rights or freedoms in the long term. 💬 Key Quote: "Once we allow a small exception to the rule, it will eventually lead to the collapse of the rule itself." — Thomas Sowell 👉 Application: 1️⃣ Use this concept in questions where you need to emphasise on right means over ends. 2️⃣ In Case studies where you are forces/enticed to take some action in return for small benefits, you can refuse the offer by stating: Such action will lead to a slippery slope and will lead to unethical consequences in the long term. Hit ❤️ if you found this useful. 📎 Stay Updated : @upscandbeyondd
