La Flame is entering a completely new era. In his new Variety cover story, Travis reflects on making his acting debut in Christopher Nolan’s The Odyssey, revealing that despite performing in front of hundreds of thousands of people throughout his career, stepping onto a movie set for the first time left him “nervous as f***.” Acting alongside Matt Damon, Tom Holland, Anne Hathaway, Zendaya, Robert Pattinson and the rest of the cast pushed him into unfamiliar territory, but he says Nolan immediately made him feel comfortable and encouraged him to trust the process. One of the biggest revelations is how the opportunity came together. Travis says Christopher Nolan personally called him, and at first he assumed it was about creating music, just like he did with THE PLAN for Tenet. Instead, Nolan offered him a role in the film. Travis accepted immediately, describing the call as something surreal and comparing it to getting a call from one of his favorite superheroes. In The Odyssey, Travis plays a bard, a storyteller whose role is much deeper than a simple cameo. Nolan has explained that he intentionally cast Travis because Homer’s epic was originally passed down through oral poetry, and he saw a natural connection between that tradition and modern rap. It’s one of the most unique casting decisions in the film and gives Travis a meaningful place within the story itself. The interview also includes one of the biggest updates fans have been waiting for. Travis reveals that working on The Odyssey has become a major source of inspiration for his next album. Spending time around Christopher Nolan and watching how he approaches storytelling has changed the way Travis thinks about making music, and he says he’s gone back to building beats from scratch over the past year and a half. Rather than chasing what worked before, he’s approaching this next project from a completely different creative mindset, with film becoming one of its biggest influences.
