| 4 | *History of Fellowship Hike of 2019*
In 2019 January, the Department of Science and Technology (DST) in India issued the order on fellowship hike as it is the appellate authority to revise the emoluments of research fellows irrespective of different streams (Science, Technology, Social Science, etc.). The immediate effect was given to prestigious institutions such as IITs, IIMs, and NITs, and other R&D JRF/SRF/RA Project Posts.
However, *UGC-NET/JRF* candidates had to wait until *June 2019 (about 5 months)* for the hike, as per the UGC's order dated June 2019. Similarly, scholars under *CSIR-NET/JRF* saw the revision in rates in *June 2019 (5 months)* with an order issued by the CSIR in June 2019.
For *JRF schemes under MANF, NFOBC, NFSC, and NFPwD*, the fellowship revision became applicable in *November 2019* after a UGC order with the prior approvals from the concerned ministries, i.e., Ministry of Social Justice and Empowerment for NFSC, NFOBC, and NFPwD and Ministry of Minority Affairs for MANF.
*All these hikes were implemented according to the date mentioned in the DST's order of 2019 *(w.e.f. 01.01.2019)*.
_So, as per the timeline of the Fellowship Hike of 2019 mentioned above, we (all scholars under *UGC-NET/CSIR-NET/MANF/NFOBC/NFSC/NFST/NFPwD/SJSGC etc.)* have to wait until an order is issued by the concerned Nodal/Funding Agencies.
